That obviously seems to make sense and all, but I think you sound a little too confident given the fact that we are still talking about a 17/18 year old kid that neither you nor I know in an arena as crazy as college recruiting.... I assure you that Lane will not side with you if he does commit to USC in July...

Lane understands he has to get someone. He will move on to Rettig if he decides to go to USC. I'm sure he may keep in contact but that hill is just too steep to climb if he does commit to USC.

If he isn't committing anywhere until July 25th, then what the hell is there to talk about anymore? Save the speculation and drama for your daytime soaps, ladies.

i dont know why, but i have a nagging feeling about Florida in this mess. i read somewhere that Brantley(sp) isnt that great, and Meyer is a good liar. i still feel that USC/UT are the teams to beat, but i dont count out the gators.

Brantley is very good. CUM is propagandizing he is also has Jordan Reed. He has completely fabricated the QB situation to Scroggins. If Scroggins goes there it will be a public fall out and transfer later.

I may have to visit that Elite 11 camp (only an hour away), and see if I can't get a chance to talk with the kid in person.
I wonder if the beautiful scenery in E. Tennessee will be enough of a lure to offset some of that hometown sentiment. When I got out of the Army, I moved to the Houston TX area, and "Some Place Different" was indeed a lure to move, temporarily.
Got a bit homesick after a few years, but if the kid has grown up in the LA area, it's quite possible he wants to "Get Away" for a while. It's very dry and brown, due to very little rainfall (compared to the San Diego area, that's fairly green). It has it's own charms, but I can see Knoxville/the Hill in Autumn as an intriguing prospect.

Don't let Herbs fool ya, This is a USC/UT battle.

The only reason FL is in right now is their recent popularity.

Right. The fact that he is a proven winner as a head coach -- and that he can win a NC with Chris Leak or Tim Tebow -- is of no consequence.

Has it dawned on anyone that we might be #3 in the Scroggins Sweepstakes, based on hard-evidence credibility?

Dude this is a 18 year old kid, 18 year old don't give 2 craps about the autumn changing of the colors, show him hot chicks, cold beer, and warm tail.....changing of the colors in the fall.....thats not miller high life right there.

Ya, that dawned on some of us. It just depends on what he's looking for in a school. If he wants an established winner, Tennessee is last. If wants an established shot at early playing time, Tennessee is first. That's how I see it, anyway.

didn't scroggins talk about enrolling early to get into to spring pratices, so wherever he commits to he we be on campass early hopefully it's UT

Just a gut feeling, but I think we are 3rd on his list with him committing to USC.....(after reading his last interview). I'm hoping our coaches can change his mind though in these last few weeks.

It'd be hard to turn down the almost assured success at USC or Florida, even for a program that looks to be poised to make a comeback.

I would be surprised if we are behind FL. Sounds to me like USC and UT are in a very tight race with UF running behind. However if UT is really running 3rd, and the coaches feel that way, they should be offering Rettig today.

That would help a lot at UT. He could secure the starting position in the spring.

It would be nice to have a QB starting at UT for the next few years. I say a few because if he comes he'll likely have to decide on the League after three. If he goes to USC, he might even redshirt his first year. They simply don't need him on the sidelines. He could then start there his last two years, but that would put him in the NFL two years later (if he starts as a Frosh at UT and goes after three).

By my estimates on this guy's potential, that's a lot of money to pass up. Even one year as a first rounder is a huge opportunity cost.

The more he thinks, the better we are.

USC and UF are two of the best programs in the country. To get courted by the best is flattery to the nth degree. It validates your talent for sure.

I think they should have already offered Rettig.

If he goes to USC, I can't blame his intelligence for that choice.

If he goes to UF, based on the lies CUM has fed him, he'll be too embarrassed to accept how naive he was.

Please don't show him your power T uniforms.:crossfingers:

How about you just don't check this thread again until July 25th, codpiece.

Awww, knew I would hurt someone's feelers. I apologize if what I said made too much sense. Apparently this thread is therapy.

I hope Scroggins commits and all, but do we really need all of this ridiculousness? Scroggins threw out the rumor mill when he stated a date for announcement, so let's tell rumors and lies about other kids that may or may not commit to us, right?

Let's not do our very best, again, to run off another star recruit with our collective "knowledge" and idiocy. But if that's what you have to do to feel validated in life, Orange_Swarm, then long live your supreme stupidity. Obviously you're all for it, so lead us into doom. Thanks.
