I've gotta call complete BS on the Hurst thing. His brother would be flat out screwed then, and I really doubt he would do that to him.

Also Kevin_Scott says he still believes Scroggins doesn't come to UT. I have no clue what he's basing that on but that's what he thinks, and he's definitely in the minority.

I'm assuming you mean official and the way Hooker wrote it, he made is seem as though he would only take one visit, and the one visit would be to Tennessee, insinuating that Scroggins would already be commited and recruiting other prospects at that time.

Also SIAP but a poster on rivals is saying Orgeron and Chaney are still going after OL James Hurst (5 star UNC commit)and that he will silently open up his recruiting and could take an official visit to tennessee if tennessee lands a big time QB (Scroggins). Don't know how valid the guy is, but it's the same person that said Dietrich Riley is a silent commitment.
Yeah, that's what I meant. Corrected.

His stance all along has been that we don't get Scroggins and that's why he's sticking with it. He is trying not to be wishy-washy. I get it, but it certainly seems like the wrong POV at this point.

The only thing that I think may endanger our holding on to Scroggins is if we totally bomb this year on offense. I don't see that happening. I think we put a respectable 7 win offense on the field.

There's a few of us, that's for sure.

Not trying to be annoying, but why don't think Scroggins will come to UT, and where do you think he will end up? Just wanna get a different perspective on the whole thing.

Hey I just asked him that in the MUNCHIE thread. I second it. And as I said, it can't just be because it's USC.

And you have until February 3rd to be wrong now. Convenient. :)

Why is it that you feel that way? I want to know what you are basing it on. It can't just be that USC is some super recruiting machine, because so are we now. You can answer in the Scroggins thread to keep this from going too far OT.

This kid really likes USC, even though you don't hear a lot about it from him. Just the fact he is letting them stay around is what is most concerning. Also, what if he goes to their camp and does twice as much there as he did here?? Would say something about where he's most concerned about playing. I also just don't get a general good feeling about him coming to play here.

Yeah i see what your saying, but i think it'd be different if he already he the USC offer. He's a competitive guy, and i think he wants to earn a USC offer, but he's almost smart enough to know that UT is the right place, for many reasons.

Letting them stay around?? He's camping there, sure. A lot of his friends are going. I don't think that has any bearing on his decision it sounds like his mind is made up.

“This process is almost over,” Scroggins said. “(They) kind of waited.”

Fixed your post. :)

What would I do without you? (no homo)

We haven't proved anything like USC has though. Sometimes knowing that a team has produced NFL starting QB's in the past 7 years is plenty enough to keep the channels open. We haven't had one QB that has done anything in the NFL since Manning.

I think he want the offer from them. I agree he likes them. I think he comes to us even if they offer but the offer means a lot to him. For a kid his age to be able to say in Cali he has a USC offer is a big deal. However, there Depth Chart is insane at QB. MB might redshirt this year. Leaving 4 years to play over Scroggins. He would likely leave early but still. A 5 star recruit will commit there in the next 3 years as well if not two. So going there is madness for Scroggins. It is all about the offer I believe. He wants it for bragging rights.

Hmmm..you beat me to it. Yours is simpler and more to the point. I am long winded.

Don't forget a 4th stringer for the jets that just got caught on the juice. :)

But yes we both have our reasons, but mine includes have a big time QB commit to tennessee, so people are probably going to agree with me even if i had no argument anyway. :p

Remember he's injured. He won't be doing much of nothing at the USC camp. Plus he said they "waited" as if to say they waited too late to offer.

Why is that?

His brother transferred from MSU to UNC for the upcoming season so he could still play a year or two with his brother.

If James changes his commitment, his brother is gonna be stuck at UNC with a year of wasted eligibility and may transfer..again to play with his brother.

Carson Palmer is the only USC QB that's done anything of note in the NFL, though. Matt Cassell had one decent year with the Patriots, but he's not rocking the league just yet. We'll see how he does with a team rebuilding. We've gotten Tee Martin, Clausen and Ainge to the league, too. They just didn't or haven't panned out. Not entirely dissimilar to USC or UF's situation.
