kevin anderson says he has a verbal offer from UT just not a written offer... i bet if we offered dion bailey and got them three to visit they would commit on the spot

scroggins bailey and anderson all want to attend the same school.. Washington, arizona state, and washington state are the only BCS programs to offer all three players

That fact that UWs only taking 1 QB is good for us, this means we have a very good shot at getting Heaps or Scroggins IMO.

teaser:

he is familiar with the state and the south. Nearly all of his mom's family is from Tennessee living in Memphis and Nashville and he has been coming to the state to see them 2 or 3 times a year for a while.

"I would like to commit before the start of my senior year and Tennessee is a place that I am interested in and want to see," Scroggins offered. "I haven't talked to them on the phone, but I have talked with them through e-mail and have gotten a lot of letters from them. I know that they run a pro-style offense. They have a fabulous coaching staff and they are in the SEC. I hear it's a wild atmosphere there."

"All of my mom's side of the family lives in Tennessee," Scroggins said. "They all live in Memphis and Nashville. We go there 2-3 times a year to see them so I would be comfortable with all of my family close by."

"I have been to Washington," Scroggins said. "They have a pro-style offense from USC with coach Sarkisian and I have several teammates who will be enrolling this summer. That is a big factor because they can actually tell me what it is like up there. As for LSU, they have been successful, they play in the SEC, and it would be a chance for me to live on my own away from home."

From VQ... It doesn't sound like UT is working on him too hard imo. He may not be what Kiffin is looking for...

A. we offered him, didn't we?
B. we offered him early in the process, which means something.
C. UT was recruiting Heaps before they saw Scroggins' film. they're trying to manage multiple relationships at once and it's a delicate process.
D. we just started the contact period up again. he would have had to call UT to speak with them. coaches couldn't call juniors until last week. he said he's been in touch via e-mail so it's not like there's been no contact. Hubbs recently said that Tennessee supposedly had 3 very firm offers---Heaps/Bell/Scroggins. that means something for Scroggins to be one of those three.

That just doesn't sound like they are all over him to me like they are with Heaps. I mean, I'm sure we contact him quite a bit with emails and letters, but it seems like they would have somebody calling his family and coaches all the time like they do Heaps and like Orgeron is doing with Carmon, Maclin, etc. I do like this kid alot though...

see "C". you have to dance a bit and build things up. Heaps was calling Tennessee when Kiffin was hired. Scroggins showed up on the radar well after that. it's a delicate process on how you manage multiple courtships simultaneously.

Im watching a little video on Scroggins right now, I like the way he steps into his passes, and he appears to be able to move in the pocket. He seems to have an arm as well

I had the same thoughts, Vadar, but at the same time it's really hard to second guess the way this staff recruits. I like Scroggins a lot, and I hope he ends up winning a lot of games for UT, but I trust the staff will get us a good QB in the end.

I think they are afraid if they push hard and get a committment they will lose Heaps who is obviously the #1 target. I am pretty sure if things look to be going south with Heaps Scroggins will get to know the Staff really fast. But still they should at least be on the phone with him staying in his ear enough that he keeps us at the top.

From the latest article on VQ, sounds like if we really wanted Scroggins he would be ours.

Not sure why we wouldn't want him, the kid is impressive. I assume they are afraid if they get a big time QB before Heaps, Heaps will go elsewhere and he is #1 on our list.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we offered. That means we really want him.

If we really wanted him, the staff would be constantly calling him like they do Heaps instead of emailing and just sending letters. It's obvious Heaps is the #1 target and you don't want to do anything to push him away, but giving this guy some love wouldn't hurt.

I see what you're saying. I don't think we disagree.

I would just emphasize that Kiffin hasn't been loosely tossing around scholly offers. He isn't pulling a Rich "let's offer everybody now and figure out who we really want later" Rodriguez. He never offered the Montana kid. So, even though we may not be all over this kid like we are with Heaps, the scholly offer in and of itself constitutes showing him some love.
