New offer for Scroggins
Lakewood (Calif.) quarterback Jesse Scroggins is on a great run right now and has established himself as arguably the top quarterback prospect from the Golden State. Back in early March after watching film on Scroggins, we said he could be the top QB prospect in the state and he's starting to make believers out of a lot of people right now.
Scroggins measured in at the SoCal NIKE Camp at 6-2, 189 pounds and was an easy choice for QB MVP honors. He had a great day throwing the ball despite having a somewhat off day according to him.
"I felt a little rusty actually," Scroggins said. "I started off slow and didn't feel comfortable early on but as the day went on, I started to throw the ball a lot better. I know I need work on my feet but overall, it was great to earn MVP honors and I had a great time there."
On the recruiting front, Scroggins received a big offer Tuesday morning and said he's very excited about the direction his recruitment is going.
"LSU just offered me," Scroggins said. "I'm real excited about that one because they're a big time school. I don't know a lot about them but I'm definitely going to research them and find out as much as I can.
"I visited Washington over the weekend and loved it there. They have a great staff and I've known coach Sark since the 8th grade because I've been going to the camps at USC for that long. I know they've offered Jake Heaps too but they told me my offer is firm and they would just take one of us.
"UCLA and USC are showing a lot of interest as well. USC said I was one of their top three guys and they want me to attend their Rising Stars Camp. They said after the camp, they'll offer the best guy. UCLA said something similar, Coach Neuheisal saw me at the camp because he was watching his son and he wants me to camp with them and I'm going to their spring game this weekend. I like Cal and Arizona as well and want to try and visit them this summer. I'm hoping to commit by the end of the summer."
