Which school will Scroggins verbally commit to tomorrow?

I know how Scroggins is viewed as a pull in the eyes of other recruits, but a part of me would just like to pull the trigger on Rettig. That puts us in the driver's seat. I'm not a pro scout, but the kid looks pretty awesome to me. Couldn't Kif, Chaney, etc. convince these recruits that they're better talent evaluators than Rivals and that they saw more upside with Rettig?

I can catch UT every game on Direct TV too...so, your point is?
You're comparing Apples to Oranges...cable vs. major networks. The SEC dominates national coverage...thanks in large part to our hated foes, LSU and UF, with 4 NC's in the past 5 yrs. UT get's games Nationwide...not on cable either, for games against UF, UGA, Bama, and usually one other SEC opponent (LSU or Auburn)...and usually one Non-Conference matchup. That's more than USC's national coverage, and they have the rest of the PAC-10 to thank for that. :)

I said that without guarantees, it is hard to send you child completely across the country. I did not say that he should not or would not do it - just that it was a very hard decision for a parent when you aren't certain that it will work out for the better, and that we shouldn't pretend that it is an easy one.

It is possible that it shakes out (and I mean with a reasonable percentage chance...maybe 25%) that Scroggins doesn't start many games in his UT career...perhaps his dad worries about sending his son to Tennessee when that could happen.

Scroggins has the best chance of starting at UT. There's no doubt about that. But, without that chance being extremely high, it is hard for a parent to send them off that far.

Again...you're NEVER going to get guarantees at any major program, no matter how desperate they may be...and we are in bad need with Boyd rejected and Coleman gone.
It doesn't get closer to a guarantee than that! What more would you expect? Jesse simply has the misfortune of facing a very bad situation, depth chart-wise at his hometown school. So much so, that he didn't get offered early like most highly rated prospects do. The fact that he had to wait this long is a loud mega-phone announcement that the QB in this class will be a depth chart number and that's it.

Even if JS ends up being decent UT will be great. If we get JS we will have a great offensive recruiting year and with the backfeild and defense we have we will great.

"I haven't stopped talking to coaches," Scroggins said. "I talk to the school's once a week. I don't talk to them as much as I did, but all three schools are still recruiting me hard."

Says he talks to Jacques Smith a lot and he is recruiting him hard to Tennessee.

By that second quote it seems that the phone call with Urban last week was just what I predicted it was, just another recruiting call. Eric, you need to eat crow on that one. :) Told ya.

He claims that he has not made a decision and I think he is being completely honest. That favors us IMO and he is waiting until the Elite 11 camp to make a decison. One is not coming sooner as has been speculated. I really think that favors us and I am much more optimistic about this than I was before the article.

BTW, what happened to him and Bailey committing together to USC very soon as was claimed by Rex? I never saw a source for that claim and it seems that it is completely untrue. I would expect some more care out of a recruiting mod when dropping something that could be that significant.

Sab, did you see the rivals article posted on the DB thread that said he and his Dad are visiting UT the first week of August? I am not sure how to take that. The strange thing is, the article is from June 16. Not sure if he still has plans to do so or not. I was hoping he knew Jessee was announcing UT on the 25th of this month and was coming in August to check it out as well.

hey im new to this board. iv been reading it for a while cuz it gives good info so i decided so sign up the other day. i have been looking up everything about scroggins while we have been recruiting him and with all the stuff i have seen and thought about i really think he is gonna end up a vol in the end
