Lighten up fellas!! It will not be the end of the Vols if he doesnt commit. I love Scroggins!! Liked him much better than Heaps even when everyone was slobbering all over him. Life is Life!! You win some, you loose some. All you need to know is we will get a QB and he will be what we need. The top rated guys dont always pan out. If he chooses USC, then thats not that he doesnt like us, it that its whats better for him!! That may not always be what we like to hear, but thats just the way it is sometimes. Keep the faith!!

Go Vols

Yeah, I really think he's a Vol in the end, but USC is really scaring me for some reason. I honestly don't know why..Guess it is the "wonder" of California and their dirty air.

how do you not know why usc is scaring you
theyre scaring you because they are a great program, 20 minutes from scroggins house, he grew up a fan of them, he really wanted an offer from them, and they are incredible recruiters

and knoxvilles air is hardly clean

I agree. So what if we have to settle for a 3 star qb. Colt McCoy was one if I remember correctly. Everyone seems to forget that CLK coached Heisman candidate quarterbacks. I don't know what Palmer and Leinart's ratings were out of high school, but he does know what he is doing. He talks about putting kids in a position to succeed in his offense (mainly talking about freshman). I know Clawson did not do this last year with Crompton or Stephens. We did not run plays to there strengths, and I will go out on a limb and say that our QB play will be greatly improved this year. If I remember correctly, but could be wrong, Palmer did not have a great freshman year, and they thought he would be a flop.

For real, It's not the end of the world if he doesn't commit to UT, If that happens We can pick up a couple of Juco's "Newton and Laimason" and a youngun "Rettig" and get on with life and UT football..WE WILL SURVIVE!!....I promise.

Why are so many on here so worried/upset about what was the prospect of and now is officially the USC offer?

What did everyone think/hope would happen at the USC camp?

Did you all think/hope he would perform so poorly that USC wouldn't offer?

If so...do you seriously want a QB that wasn't good enough to get said offer to be the guy leading us back to the 'promised land'?

IMO...if the 'home team' angle was the end-all say-all in this decision then he would have committed very soon after receiving his offer...

Since he hasn't I think it's safe to assume he hasn't made up his mind and that we are still a major player in the decision

At least...now that the offer has come and he hasn't immediately jumped on it...that's how I'm going to view it until his decision comes

Exactly!!:clapping:

I do want to get scroggings. But are there any other under the radar guys that we are looking hard at (I know Rettig and Lamaison and the others talked of on the board just curios if there were ones not talked about much we liked).

The numbers being thrown out are just people’s thoughts on where js MIGHT be going based on reports. No one knows for sure except js and he might not know yet either. To freak out about people throwing out numbers is just plain DUMB. Don’t look at the numbers if you don’t like them.

No one freaked out. Its annoying and cluttering to see everyone's percentage-based opinion on where Jesse feels like he might go today. Congratulations, we're a bunch career minded adults who are so insecure that we need to associate a number, based on nothing that we know for sure, on an 18 year old kids college choice. Ummm...time for a little reevaluation. I want him to come to UT, for the record...in the worst way. I just want good, solid fact when it comes to following recruitment.

To throw out numbers based on something that you couldn't possibly know anything about is DUMB. In fact, to defend such a stance DUMB. See how that works?

And its impossible not to look at the numbers when everyone and their mother are throwing crap out here!

I realize my post count doesn't offer much credibility, but I am optimistic JS comes to UT for several reasons:

- By all accounts, he really enjoyed his visit here. (that pic of the rock with his name on it is still prominently displayed on his myspace page nearly a week later)

- opportunity for early playing time and lots of it

- family in the state

- our coaching staff's ability to sign guys most people wouldn't have thought we could get

- not being afraid of competition is one thing, but that QB roster at USC is ridiculous. You'd have to be smoking something really strong to think you'd see any meaningful playing time there in the foreseeable future.

- Coming to UT is a risk, since our new staff hasn't coached a game yet, but it's a calculated risk worth taking. We play in the best conference in America and he might have a street named after him if he turns this thing around.

I realize none of this is new information, but thought I'd share what's rolling around my pea brain. If it's purely an emotional decision, he goes to USC. If he really analyzes the situation, I think it's UT.

I have -100% faith in humanity if some peeps can't enjoy a little humor. Let's try and put this in perspective a bit. A high school kid's decision, coupled with faith in an elite coaching staff to find a high school kid to play qb = chillax.

Scroggins is a vol LOCK. Don't worry, guys! Lock it up, and friggin' throw away the key. He's going to be OURS!!!

You come to a free internet message board and are upset because you have to weed through the crap to get what you're looking for?

Do you also get mad when you have to stop at a red light?

I think the better question is; Who doesn't??

Yeah bad example...it's all I could come up with off the top of my head...

I'm trying to think of an example of something you HAVE to do...

Something you are certain you have to do everytime you participate in a certain activity...

Something that's so obviously a part of that activity that to complain about it would be utterly ridiculous...

Like chewing before you swallow...or turning the TV on before you watch it...

Got any ideas?

Oh wait..this is supposed to be about Scroggins....

Nevermind
