He certainly didn't come across like he had any faith USC was going to offer and that it was between us and BC. How many more signs are required for anyone thinking Scroggins is going to be a Vol?

"Tennessee just offered this morning," Rettig said. "I was pretty excited because I loved my time at their camp and the SEC is big time football. The timing is crazy because I was actually thinking about committing to Boston College today and then I got an email from one of the coaches to call coach (Lane) Kiffin and when I did, he told me they were offering.

"I still like BC a lot and I think that's a great opportunity for me. That's a great academic school and I know I could get in there and compete early for playing time. I like the coaches a lot and the school has produced a lot of NFL quarterbacks in the past, so this is going to be a really tough decision for me."

This does not bold well for us getting a commitment from Scroggins. I said all along that if we see an offer extended to Rettig then the coaches feel as though Scroggins will commit to USC.

Unless JS already sent CLK a LOI and then we offered Rettig?? Could this be a possibility?

I don't hardly ever post to the recruiting threads, so maybe this was talked about, but does anyone here know if this guy prefers BC over us, or was he just saying that stuff about committing to BC because we hadn't offered yet? Is BC really a contender for his services?

Looks like the chips have fallen today. Hopefully we're not in too late with Rettig. Scroggins (probably) to USC, Rees to ND, and we offer Rettig.

We may look back and thank our lucky stars if we get Rettig over Scroggins. If there is one certainty in recruiting, it is that nothing is certain, esp player outcome 3-4 years down the road.

I hope it's something small and quick.... maybe a french fry. I need to hear more about where this kids head is. I can handle losing Scrogs to USC, but Rettig to BC would put me over the edge.
