'10 CA QB Chase Rettig

Honestly, that's kinda ridiculous. Think about it. Rettig KNOWS that he is going to have an offer to wherever Scroggins doesn't go, either USC or UT. So instead of waiting 2 more weeks and letting Jesse get his 15 minutes of fame, you believe Rettig is going to commit to a school that is completely across the US in the freezing cold and be the #2 QB in the BC 2010 class behind Jon Boisture? Not gonna happen...

What does Mich State QB commitment Boisture have to do with anything? :birgits_giggle:

One of the selling points for BC was the fact that he could start as a true freshman. Their QB situation could be worse than UT's and with Chase being in Spring Ball, his chances of playing increase big time.

Does anyone really think any of the '10 QB's are the savior of the program? Everyone has said it's a weak crop anyway.

Go hard after the one that seems to have the most room for improvement, coach him up and see what happens. If CLK gets a top prospect for 2011, great.

Probably pretty important for us to have a QB in every class for depth reason.

I agree that one is needed, but it seems that alot of people on here think if UT does not get their 4* qb, all is lost. I still think that a couple of the high profile qb's that have committed, will change their mind before signing day (it is 8MONTHS from now). Let things work themselves out....UT will have a very highly rated qb in the 2010 class.

I agree. We will get a good QB. I think the staff works their tail off to get the very best at every position. Their standards are very high so that's why they are working so hard to get Scroggins. These prospects have not even played their senior seasons. There will be some that rise high and some that will sink low after they play this year. Scroggins seems like one that will be highly regarded and will probably play very well this year. A guy like Chase has a very high ceiling and will have a pick up in interest, especially if he plays well. The fact we are on the board with so many kids this year (some of the up a n coming ones) makes me feel confident that we'll get a good one this year.

Kevin Scott is saying that Rettig is a silent contingent on Scroggins decision. It makes sense. He's also saying that we are finished at QB with a Rettig commitment. The Dietrich Riley rumor makes me think this is for real.

I dont know about the rest of the information in this post, but I find that one to be a bit of a stretch IMO.

I thought that at first, but if this class is so weak at QB, why would we take 2?

I agree. I have been thinking the same thing. Next year is loaded with QB's on the east coast and I do think the distance thing is a factor on most kid eventhough they do not admit it.

I wouldn't call it a stretch. We take Rettig and we also get Lamaison for this upcoming season.

So 2010 season were left with Stephens, Rettig, Lamaison, Rozier(maybe)...Seems like they will cut their losses and make it up with a stellar 2011 QB.

Honestly, I can almost believe this. I have been trying to figure out for a while now, why Rettig does not have an offer. This would make since. He is the best QB left on the board beside Scroggins, IMO. He has been performing well in camps, especially the last one. He apparently had a pretty good showing at UT's as well. There is just no reason this kid doesn't have an offer. I think they might be some truth to what Kevin is saying.

We might have our stellar QB already if we take Rettig. I really believe this kid is the real deal. He is getting better and better and apparently has one of the strongest arms in the country. I look for him to have a really good year and for his stock to go through the roof. I just hope he is committed to UT when that happens, and he remains that way.

I didn't mean he was bad, if we get Rettig I believe he'll be the only one for 2010 class.

I know what you were saying, no problem. I agree with you, we will probably go after a big time 2011 QB. I was just saying, it might turn out that he have our guy already, if we take Rettig. I believe he could be that good.

What if Scroggins commits to Florida and USC and UT both offer Rettig at the same time? That could really put us in a pickle.

I don't expect Jesse to pick Florida but you never know. Hopefully if this happens, Rettig still commits to us. The Depth chart is a no brainer, but he is a California boy.

If that happens, then Rettig goes to USC and Lord Vader kills himself...
