Chaney from all reports speaks to him everyday. So that means Rettig is calling him. I do not call my mom everyday. I think he comes here regardless...

I look for him to have a really good year and for his stock to go through the roof. I just hope he is committed to UT when that happens, and he remains that way.

I agree. My question is assuming we get him, how many offensive skill players follow? I've seen in a thread somewhere that he and Riley keep in touch or at least have talked about playing at the same school. Does anyone know of any other connections he may have?

Yeah, it is no secret. The kid has a canon. The biggest complaint is him not putting enough touch on the ball. Receivers at 5 yards away are in serious danger when he unloads. Apparently in the most recent camp where he did so well in, he has even improved on that.

The thing I like about Rettig is his approach to recruiting. He put his own name out there and went to every camp he could to compete. That sounds like a guy I want leading my team.

He is not going to attract the recruits that Scroggins is right now, but as his stock rises he will. He didn't hurt himself any in this last camp, where he performed so well. If he has a big senior season we will be okay, IMO. The good thing about Rettig, while he isn't yet the big name that Scroggins is, he has been to a lot of camps and made a lot of contacts.

He might not have had an offer for a while but he was probably promised an offer after Scroggins commits to USC. They will make good on it.

I hear you. I'm just wondering what else the kid needs to do to get his name out there. He's been incredibly patient so far, I just hope he's on the verge of really blowing up and garnering some more attention. Hope he ends up at UT; being away from CA does not seem as much of an issue as it is with Scroggins and family.

The question is how is the holding out for Scroggins decision being negotiated.

Is it the UT coaches holding out for Scroggins telling Rettig he is the man if JS goes to USC

Or is it like LV said and Rettig is telling the UT coaches to hold out and make sure that JS doesn't go to FL so he could go to USC.

I hate Urban. (just thought you should know)

If he commits to UT, he will definitely get his name out there. All he has to do then is continue to improve and have a big senior season and the other recruits will follow, IMO.

I don't think FL should even be looked at anymore honestly. If Scroggins goes to UF, we've all been blindsided and Herbz is up to some Shenanigans.

Who thinks when Rettig commits to UT or USC either one, that he will be a 4* prospect when rivals updates their list?

+1...I think he will be. This may be a reach to some, but I think he'll finish as a top 10 QB on some sites.

I thought that the kid had an outstanding sophomore year? I don't want to make excuses for his performance this past year as a junior, but I also thought that his team was injury-plagued and hence his transfer to a new school. I do agree that a great senior season would quell any more questions and it doesn't hurt that he's had some good showings so far on the camp circuit either.
