1. Chris Peterson (Boise State) - put me in his fan club. Anyone who can recruit that many good players to little, ole Boise, Idaho can have his pick of players at the University of Tennessee. Add to the fact that he is an incredible coach... where can you go wrong? I mean he outcoached BOB STOOPS in the Fiesta Bowl in his first year as a Head Coach!! He has the tenacity and guts to be a great SEC head coach too. Who else calls plays like Coach Peterson? No one
2. Gary Patterson (Texas Christian University) - Gary Patterson has made TCU's defense into the best in the nation, year after year. If he gets the right offensive coaches under him (which he could at UT), I think he could coach anywhere. He gets his players ready for the big games very well, and he never loses his composure. I think he would be a great coach for UT.
3. Randy Edsall (UConn) - This man has built a college football program at UConn, which has ALWAYS been known as a basketball school. He has got the university and players believing in his ability, and he has coached so amazingly to bring UConn from the depths of Division 1, to the top of the Big East every year. I would have no problem with the hiring of him.
Others in the mix: Brian Kelly (Cincinnati), Lane Kiffin, John Gruden (NFL), Steve Sarkisian (USC Offensive Coordinator)
Why do I leave off David Cutcliffe? Because he simply won't leave the Duke program after being there only one year. It is not in his character to do that.
What do you think?
