09 CA S Byron Moore - UT Commit

Though it's partially a function of depth and lack of talent, I think the fact that Evans has started for two different staffs - including as a sophomore - shows that he competes.

In a couple years, our secondary will good enough to where a guy like Art Evans would be happy to play nickel. But right now, I think it's highly unlikely that any of the freshman will see the field more often than him. As long as he keeps paying for his car.

You've got to be kidding me with Evans. Without Berry and Janzen we would have seen Evans and his problem a lot sooner. Berry and Janzen over the top helped a ton with Evans. This year with only Janzen back there really brought his problems to the light.

He was only recruited by Fulmer for whatever reason. Pisses me off thinking that he looked fast on tape in HS but he's slow as all get out.

Moore will make an impact. He is that good of a player. I'm just a little depressed that we may not be able to see Jackson and Moore in the secondary at the time now. I really hope Jackson comes back, but if not, I think Moore is just as talented as Jackson and possibly a better tackler.

Guys, I'm all for singing the praises of Moore's talents just as much as the next guy but we need to pump our brakes a little when comparing his skills to that of Janzen. Let's think about this logically and break down the knowns and unknowns. We have know that Janzen was a very talented player who had a RATHER smooth transition to SEC play who's proven to be a gamechanger. We know that B Moore is very talented but have yet to see how smoothly he will transition. Yes, I've seen his film and admit that he has amazing ball skills, break on the ball, signed with USC... but we all also know of the success (or lack thereof) of junior college quarterbacks at the major college level. Not saying he won't be what we all want him to be but we can't discount Janzen either.

I agree with this. Janzen has produced from Day 1 in an SEC secondary. DBs down here are expected to play the run as well as the pass. In other conferences you may not have to tackle as much ,down here you have a Ridley, Ingram, Richardson, Easley,Kniles Davis type of back coming at you week in and week out. On top of having to tackle and cover these big, fast, physical WRs(Julio, AJ Green, Alshon Jeffrey, Justin Hunter, Greg Childs, Russell Sheppard, Rueben Randle, Randall Cobb, Darvin Adams, Terell Zachary). This league is hell on a safety in particular. I hope Moore is ready he has the talent to make a lot of plays for us.

Doesn't that happen when you say Austin Rogers three times?

Nah he doesn't play here anymore. I really don't like Gerald Jones more than Rogers. Can't stand Jones. I just thought Austin sucked but Jones is hot garbage on and off the field.
