09 CA S Byron Moore - UT Commit

I'm thinking Waggner is going to be the odd man out. At least among the starters. He just had way too many mental breakdowns that led to huge plays this past season. I like Gordon a lot. I think he's going to develop into a big-time corner over the next 2-3 years.

I agree with this. The stat sheet may show a few impressive and flashy statistics last year, but the things that don't show up on the stat sheet (at least the more surfaceable ones) indicate that Waggner was still a liability back there many times. Tackling in the secondary was also a weakness, so hopefully those in this batch of signees will help alleviate those woes.

Some how I knew you would be a child.

Glad hes a Vol but if you cant get over the fact that everything you posted was absolutely nothing, then you need to follow recruiting a little longer before you post brag threads.

I believed Skeeter's report and Moore's report of knowing before his visit. As a member of "Skeeter Nation" I didn't feel that my post meant "absolutely nothing." I don't think I was mean-spirited...

I'm glad he's a Vol. You should be too!

Teague will be odd man out, if anyone is. His adjustment to CB was less than inspiring.

I believe they will move Waggner back to Safety for some depth there. I think he can backup Janzen and Brewer at the two safety spots. Then Moore and Teague I believe will start the year of at the Corner spots with Lanier and Gordon backing them up respectively. IF Teague begins to struggle with that 2nd CB spot then I see Lanier and/or Gordon taking over that spot. Needless to say with those 7 alone we have great secondary depth and will be very flexible in how we can move around the secondary players. At any given time Wilcox could probably alternate Moore and Janzen between the CB and S positions. We know Waggner can play both as well. The backup CBs we will have this year will probably be on par if not much better than the starting CBs we had last year. This will be huge in Nickel and Dime packages when we can have an extra DB such as Lanier or Gordon in there in these packages instead of Evans/Anderson or some extra LB in there. Anyway that's how I see the secondary folding out ATP.

I see Waggner as the odd man out. I think Gordon's role will be blitzing off the edge in the slot. Teague can start on the outside with his speed and leaping ability. Lanier could be the nickel man. With his versatility we could blitz one of our safeties and let him play safety. Like say line Lanier up at safety and let Janzen cover the slot man sometimes and other times blitz off the slot. Moore will be important because he can take a WR out of the game at CB or cover deep from safety. He allows our secondary to do a lot of things. Naz Oliver could be our slot cover man too. He's extremely quick and fast(before the injury he was). I'm kinda gitty over the new look of our secondary.

Wow. He made a very quick transition after playing WR last season. The coaches raved about how quickly he made the adjustment. Then he got turf toe and was never 100% all season. Teague will be a quality CB.
