09 CA S Byron Moore - UT Commit

Nowhere in my post did I mention Moore's dad or Miami being shocked. I was just stating info about Miami being a difficult school to get into especially for a JUCO.

If it's harder than getting into an SEC school, I'm surprised they ever get any transfers.

Whatever happened to Walter Fisher, the stud out of Coffeyville C.C.?

Natural Strong-Side DE who played his 3 years at Tennessee at DT because they couldn't recruit any othre good DT's. He was at least decent. Had a number of starts and was consistently in the 3-man DT rotation during his career.

Did I say you did? You threw out the possibility of him coming to UT because of the difficulty of JUCOs to Miami. If this were the case, Miami insiders being shocked and his Dad being upset wouldn't fit with the grade scenario. I know you don't think that was the reason he didn't go to Miami, but I was just showing that the reactions point to it being he just wanted to be at UT rather than UM.

Ok I understand what you are saying now. Took me awhile to connect the dots, but I got it now. Some things just go over my head. I know nothing of the situation, but if I had to guess he is picking TN because that's where he has wanted to go all along. He was even quoted saying that he already had his mind made up of where he was going before he even took the UM trip. I think Miami gave him something to think about, but in the end he is a Vol.

Rumored that the academic standard at UM were to high for Moore. Not saying that is why he didn't go to Miami or that he is only going here by default, but it is something to think about. I have read somewhere that UM has high standards for JUCO kids and that sometimes it is hard for them to get in.

That's odd. Why visit him officially this late if he can't get in? Sounds to me like some "saving face" is going on because he's not headed there. There is no doubt Miami is tougher to get but I dont understand bringing him in officially this late if he cant get in.

Thanks for refreshing my memory, I guess I was thinking more along the lines that only one of those will be a senior starting.

I don't see Austin Johnson starting though and PWagg will be in a big competiton for his spot.

I agree. I wouldn't pencil in either of those guys at this point as a starter next season.

Idk if it is necessarily harder to get into than SEC schools or not. I think it just depends on the situation. The reason the SEC has many problems with JUCO is the extra math rule. I think Miami's problem is just the overall academic standard they have, not an extra class requirement. Could be wrong though.

LWS - Everything I've been hearing is that Maggitt is likely going out of state. That would bode well for Tennessee I would imagine.

Isn't there also an extra english class they have to have as well as the math? Larry would know this. Help us out bro. :)

Yeah I talked about that in one of my later posts. Could very well be sour grapes by UM fans. They lost a recruit they thought was all theirs and now they are coming up with excuses to why he didn't stick with them. Very well could be. But Miami having a tough academic standard with JUCO players is a fact. I just don't think it had anything to do with this situation.

yeah, I guess it would... if he really leaves state

can't believe most of what you hear. :)

True, although the Florida guys sure seem to think going out of state is looking likely for Maggitt. Obviously this kind of stuff can change in a matter of seconds.

Yeah I was serious. Sorry you dint agree with my opinion. That is what makes message boards so great.

Hilarious

Oh, you are serious. Yikes.

Jiminy Christmas, the Dooley legend is reaching "mythotical" proportions. He has a career losing record as a head coach. He is bringing in a pretty good, not spectacular, recruiting class. How about even just a modicum of substantial success as a leader before you place him in the pantheon of elite coaches?

I wouldn't think that Miami would have visited him officially had this been the case. And nothing has changed with him academically the last 72 hours.

Also, remember he was a qualifier out of high school.

There may be something that I'm not aware of, but I don't see any reason why Miami would visit him and then cut him the next day with him because he can't get in school. That seems like a stretch to me.
-Hubbs.

Academic problems shot down by Hubbs. I didn't think that was the case. Should have known from the get go it was sour grapes by Miami fans.

Hubbs would not know.

If grades are in question for incoming scholar athletes at Miami, they have a board who grants waivers for admittance. Their Admissions are stricter than Most institutions

not saying Moore not being qualified is the truth or not but that is the process.

Spoke with Byron Moore via text who is feeling better today. He says he is unclear on his choice, but is almost there. I don't know where he is going, but I do believe he knows.

Yeah I just read on Rivals that UM grants those waivers. And yeah I didn't believe grades were the truth. Thanks for the info Jay. :hi:
