Have you ever not asked a girl out because you thought she was not in to you? If you never asked her out then she never turned you down. That is not a lie. The fact you think she would have turned you down is irrelevant. I learned the hard way. I had a girl ask me years later why I never asked her out. I was sure she would say no at the time but turns out I was way wrong. SMHHe just shouldn't have brought it up at all. It's not "technically" a lie, but its dishonest. We were turned down by several people before landing on him, whether formal offers were made or not.

Yep. We didn’t spend days flying all over the country interviewing candidates when White could’ve picked up the phone and landed Heupel if he wanted to from the beginning. Heupel was offered the job bc we already knew he would accept. It's a white lie. He is probably the only one that got a formal contract put in his face.
They probably talked offers with others and were turned down before an official offer was extended.
Not sure who you got your facts from but, IF we never said are you interested in the job we never offered him the job. God I am glad he didn't want the job IF that is true. Just because you talk to someone it doesn't mean you offered them a job. I do it several times a week. Just because there is an opening and we talk doesn't mean I offered you a job. You can leave saying and thinking whatever you want. But, unless I say are you interested in the job, I didn't offer you the job. You may have said something that turned me off or I didn't like the way the conversation went. It really is that simple. I am sure there are a lot of people that have left thinking I offered them a job because we talked about the job. They would be wrong. So you're telling me that when we called James Franklin, arranged a meeting, talked to him about the job, and he said "sorry but I'm not interested"... That doesn't count as being turned down? Because that happened.

Or we found there was interest from several and DW thought JH was best of the ones interested. We should not assume that JH was the only one with interest. I’m glad we got someone with HC experience. I’m really glad we are done with gumps. I was embarrassed for UT every time Pruitt was interviewed.Use your freaking head. Heupel was the only one we offered. Sure we discussed the job with 5-10 others, but they were never officially offered - we just guaged interest and found there was none.
Would you rather he go up there and say, "This guy here... he was 15th on our list, but he said yes, so yayyy"?

That would be true. But, if all you did is sit and talk with her and you never said would you like to go out with me then you were not rejected. You just talked. He said the job was only offered to one person. The rest can think what they want. But, if White was talking to them and he never said ARE YOU INTERESTED IN THE JOB, then he never offered it to them. If someone said I am not interested in the job it doesn't matter because they weren't offered the job. It was simply a feeling out process. If I want to ask a girl out on a date.. and I call her and say "Hey, lets talk about the possibility of you and I potentially going out on a date"... and she says "No thanks, I'm not interested", that is the same thing as being rejected.

Can you not read and comprehend? You can talk about the job without being offered the JOB! SMDH You do not INTEND to hire or try to hire everyone you talk too. You don't know if you want them until you talk with them. Sometimes I talk with someone just to get there thought process. I am not interested in hiring them. I am just seeing if the way they think would work for me. I have given people I was interested in to companies I thought they would fit in with. Have you been offered every job you interviewed for? If you have it would explain your not being able to grasp what I am saying. Why would he talk to them if it wasn't about the coaching job? We just fired a coach. We have an opening. They are also a coach. The intent of the conversation is obvious. It's not like they called to talk politics or trade muffin recipes.
Good grief. You can’t be this dumb. Can you not read and comprehend? You can talk about the job without being offered the JOB! SMDH You do not INTEND to hire or try to hire everyone you talk too.
