And even when successful, CBJ’s teams were roller coaster rides, never a solid 60 minute effort. Too often requiring miracle comebacks. CJH teams come out of the gate firing and don’t let upI think, with wise choices and development....CJH has shown that it's sustainable year to year. Unlike CBJ's......it was pretty clear his wasn't. Never would be.
It is the football version of Patton’s real war offenseThis offense is a constant attack. We don't play for field position. Every time we get the ball it's score or bust. That gives DCs heart burn
It was the Mark Mangino variation of Mike Leach's offense. Wasn't as high flying or high tempo and there was more emphasis on the rushing attack. What Heupel employs currently is his take on Art Briles Veer and Shoot that he sped up and added more components. But aren’t some of the concepts still the same or am I off
Ok but our OL hasn’t played this well in years. Our RB may rarely break plays more than 30 yards but they rarely get tackled for loss. Contrast that to Pruitts first year where we had the highest % in the country.JG got lit up because he didn’t make reads anywhere near as quickly as hooker, because he didn’t make any pre snap reads.
Hooker has basically 3 options in mind when he’s made his pre snap reads. Deep ball if blitz is picked up, check down if deep is not open, or scramble. On run plays he has three as well, handoff, keep or scramble and see who gets open to pass.
He usually seems to have a preferred 1 and 2 already picked, discarding the third option. This gives him one thing to look at and make a decision while a defense has to defend all 3.
JG tried to choose between three options after the snap and usually ended up with option 4 getting sacked instead.
Great quarterbacks know they have to make decisions extremely fast or they lose all advantages of being on offense. Peyton was very quick to make decisions, Brady is,
But I believe our d is perfect for our style of play. Bend but don’t break. Bama we broke a lot, but it is BAMA, with the heisman trophy winner, and a squad that is like a semi pro team!!! Ya that’s right we beat THAT TEAM!! Oh man, it’s vibing like 98- didn’t mean to repostMy buddy, a gator fan, and I were talking about that. He said heupel reminds him of Steve spurrier. It’s not only because of his resume as a player; but it’s because he is changing the game.
we are so fortunate to have a head coach that’s innovative. It’s rare! I truly believe he is going to change the game. To me, why don’t people line up so wide? It creates 1 on 1’s while allowing a major run game. His philosophy has exposed that it is possible to open the field like a video game. Wait until the D slows down points.
They call it a gimmick offense because its simple and their teams cant stop it. Pisses em off pretty bad that UT has wide open recievers every few playsI can remember people saying our offense was a gimmick and that SEC coaches would figure it out in year two. We just hung 52 on some team south of here in year 2. I’m smiling from ear to ear.
Who cares what they call it. It works, we have it and they don’t. Coach JH simply out coaches other coaches and has enough talent to out score them. I LIKE it.The “no huddle offense” was used by Sam Wyche when he coached the Bengals. Urban brought us the “spread”. Huepel has just taken it to the next level. The people that call it gimmicky are the same people that can’t stop it. Huepel also is the best play caller I’ve seen since Spurrier.
