Would be an awesome get for the Vols. This kid is the type of high character individual that CRB likes. Follow him on Instagram and you'll see what I'm talking about. It's all about his Faith and God. Oh, and he is also a great basketball player. Would be perfect fit for Barnes and this program.

I'm not sure we can really hang our hats on any true freshman except maybe a one and done type and even those guys will need some time to adjust to college not to mention the level of play in the SEC. Then there's the "freshman wall". Just gotta live through that. Still, having another true point would be a high priority. I think Turner needs to play off the ball to be honest.

James and Cone running point would be ideal. If somehow the light goes on for Bowden and Jalen, we'd be in decent shape outside. Bruce has shown us that you can have success as a perimeter oriented team. Not saying we'll play that style, but until we know what we have with our projects at the 4, 5 spots, it would be nice to have some options at the 1-3 spots.

I am not sure you meant it the way you typed it, but I'm curious what light needs to come on for Bowden. I certainly have hopes that he improves on different aspects of his game, but he averaged about the same as Turner. He was an integral part of the team. That is a huge difference from Johnson, Walker and even Fulkerson.

Agree. He's certainly ahead of those players, but I'd argue that his defense was inconsistent. If he can get more consistent(light coming on) on both ends of the floor, he's got potential.

Update to the article seems promising.

— Virginia Tech and Wake Forest have now given Jalen Cone the option to reclassify and join their 2019 classes.
No decision yet, but there’s a “high possibility,” said Cone.

That's good. No worries about those two schools.

This will take some recruiting from Barnes to pull this kid to UT. Looks like VaTech may have the lead on Cone.

How does a kid reclassify, i just don’t understand this. Not against it just don’t understand how they do it.
They already have the necessary credits after threeish years of high school to graduate early and can enroll in a university. They may need some summer work possibly, but usually that's how they reclassify.

The name of Jalen Cone is not a new one in the recruiting world but it may begin to be talked about more in the coming weeks for more reasons than one. The talent and explosiveness are not lacking with the 5-foot-9 guard, which is why he is already a member of the Rivals150, but it more so regarding the fact that he could potentially reclassify a year up and into the 2019 class this summer, which would then bring a bevy of newer suitors into his college recruitment. “Things are starting to pick up a little bit more but with the news that some colleges are offering me to come early because of some guys entering the draft and others not coming back,” Cone said about a potential move into the 2019 class. “They need somebody to fill the point guard position so things are really starting to pick up.”
Baylor, Louisville, Miami, NC State, Stanford, Texas A&M and Yale have kept in close contact with Cone in recent weeks, though Tennessee, Virginia Techand Wake Forest have brought up the idea of taking the talented guard this fall. “Really, it will be all about what is best for me and figuring out if I need another year of high school to mature my game more but if it is good for me to go to college and play now or even redshirt, then that would be the option I would choose,” Cone said. “If I do it, I would have to decide very soon so I would have to look at what the best fit is for me and to see how long the coaches are going to be there. I don’t want to go early to college and then they leave after I am there for just one year.” Cone is an elite sparkplug at the point guard position that can get a bucket in the blink of an eye. He posted 23 points, five rebounds and four assists on Saturday afternoon and is tracking towards a coveted recruitment in the coming weeks thanks to the news getting out that he could make the move a year up and into the 2019 class.

I think Jalen Johnson could see some time at the small forward position along with James.

Cone would be a nice addition if he can reclassify for 2019.
