'15 NM QB Zach Gentry

as long as we fill needs with quality guys. im good. we have to get gentry.

id like to close the state down as well.

Some of the instate kids appear to be looking in other directions. A few wins this fall hopefully will change that.

UT offered him a while ago. Put up huge stats last year vs questionable competition. Apparently he has moved to NC to play against better talent. Kid has shown little to no interest to any other schools. After he got the UT offer, he said it did not matter who recruited him, he was "all UT". I could be wrong but I think he may already be onboard.

If he does not get any other offers, "I'm all UT" could also mean he was willing to walk-on. IMO throwing for 4000-5000 yards vs any competition will get you offers from some schools. We'll see how it goes.

50 tds and 5 picks?? Is this real life?

Everything I have read makes me think this kid could be a steal. Curious to see how he does at his new school and vs better competition. He is not camping anywhere. He is not taking other visits(at least 247 shows none). Makes me think he could already be a Vol. If you read the 1st pages of his thread, there were a lot of reports coming from TOS saying a lot of good things about the kid.

If you compare this class to the 2013 recruiting class, we will do a lot better on team ranking. We didnt have many high ranked guys. That class finished 21st IIRC, so its gives us an idea of where we will be. My guess is 12-14

I think we'll be similar to the Stanford '14 class, S. Carolina '14, Auburn and Oregon '12 classes.

19-22 kids, 0 or 1 5* and a lot of 4*s.

speaking of competition, I can't believe its all that great in New Mexico, what makes people think Gentry would be the best option? Measurables?

I'm confident this is going to be our QB in the 2015 class.

QB recruiting this year seems very similar to last year to me. IMO the staff is all in on Gentry like they were Cornholio last year. Just have to hope it plays out in our favor this year. If not, we may see another McClendon scramble late in the process.

I think we end up taking 25 and finish top 5.

Kyle Allen came out of there too if I recall. It's probably not that bad.

Quick question, I've tried to track down the answer skimming this thread, no luck.

Has Gentry given a time frame for when he plans to make a commitment?

I think I remember him saying sometime in June or July, but said if he felt like he knew it could be earlier. Possibly this Spring . You gotta love our chances if he comes up once before the Orange and White game and then comes back again for the Spring game. This is the guy I was hoping they would get all along. Even when some on here were all Gibson. Seems like we are looking really good here.

I hope Gentry understands the impact that a QB can have on the other athletes in his graduating class deciding where they want to commit. If at some point he decides to commit to Tennessee, he needs to make that commitment ASAP so Coach Jones and staff can start surrounding him with a quality class! It is much easier to sale a recruit on your school and the football program when he knows who his QB will be. JMHO

I would like to preface this post by saying this is not any way a freak out or Volnation meltdown. However, with early commitments from QBs now days and the fact that Gentry can't make the O&W game, what kind of time line do people have before they start to get nervous about Gentry not committing or not having a QB on board at all?

He's visiting two weeks before the spring game.
