Petition to rehire Bruce Pearl

How big is the actual risk? It's not like he had a long history of minor violations lane Kiffin style .

I think once you've lied to the NCAA, the risk is there. And I have a hard time believing that Pearl's ego won't take him down the same road; especially if he's not winning as much the second time around.

And I'm not one of these haters that's going to whine if he gets rehired and not watch any games or donate money. I just think it's a bad move.

I think to be a great coach, you need a great ego.

The messed up part of that logic is that there is literally no other reason anyone lies to the IRS except to save money. No coach lies to the NCAA or breaks the rules except to gain an advantage and win more. In a twisted way, by your logic, every rule breaker is heroic.

It blows my mind how quick people are to dismiss the possibility that there are other coaches that can do the job without the risk.

It blows my mind that you cant see why people feel this way.... It has been since the 1970's that we have had a coach that has been able to coach, motivate, and recruit like Pearl. Devoe could coach but not recruit....K Oneill could coach defense, and recruit but struggled on offense.....J Green was able to coach the talent that Oneill had brought in but struggled to connect with the fans, motivate his team and was not a great recruiter.

I dont know if I have enough life left to wait another thirty years. LOL

It blows everybody's mind, but for some reason it seems to be reality.

I have often wonder what kind of player Stokes would have been under Pearl versus Martin. Don't bother with the BBQ jokes and other things, just think about it, would Stokes have been a different player under Pearl?

Can we get a coach that can change the environment at UTK.

How many coaches will we have to offer to finally find somebody willing to come into this program to change it around.

With Any coaching change there is always going to be a risk because of the intangibles that come with change.

We were warned that CCM was going to be a different style of play. Games were going to be in the 50 to 60 range and that Defense was going to be our focus.

CCM as it seems fails to make adjustments, pre game, or in game. He does not anticipate very often what other teams are going to do. His offense is predictable and I think Defensively we rarely see the adjustments needed to keep opponents on their heals.

We were spoiled by Pearl, it seems at times he would reach down into his bag of tricks and pull out the unexpected Defense or Offensive sets.

This whole thing is a mess, I like CCM but it was always going to take time. He could be 25-4 right now and I would be elated but I would still be bored watching his teams play. When he arrived, the preaching and his mo, this year I haven't seen the defense on the floor I expected to see or that was advertised 3 years ago.

Reason he has a style of play that is totally opposite of what we experienced the previous 6 years. At present, you watch a game and say yuck.

There are some coaches mentioned as replacements but what is it going to cost us in the long run.

I'd love to have Marshall but I think our time has past on that option. If it's a possibility and happens, i'd be excited.

Im definitely ok with someone other than Pearl, I just want it to be a good coach that has Knoxville rocking again.

I expect WSU will make a deep run in the tourney and that we will offer again if this Pearl thing blows over.

So IYO or anybody's what are the chances of landing him here.

Id LOVE to have him, but as others have said, I feel our chances of landing him are very slim

Truthfully, I'd say slim. IMO, it would take a lot to get him out of Wichita and I don't think we'd offer the kind of money to make him move. Why would he? He has it perfect there.

I think the AD department and the higher ups are going to sit back and let the Pearl Momentum run its course and die. Or they suspect it will die. If CCM is let go, this is going to get interesting. If we keep him another year, it is going to also get interesting.

You can argue both points, I believe we get into the NCAA and make some run which is going to negate everything to its death.

Then in a rebuilding year attendance soars to new lows because of a lack of confidence and enthusiasm towards the program. Heck of a way to run a ship. The ones that are above Hart have the final approval and they don't care or understand nor will they admit that they are the problem.

Funny thing is that Hart is a basketball guy so he knows and understands what is happening. In the same aspects his hands are probably tied.

I'd love to have Marshall too, but Hambone really screwed things up with him. For some reason he didn't like Marshall (maybe because he's a winner lol) but he turned him down twice. The 1st time I understand because Hammy got CBP instead of him, but the second time he chose Martin over Marshall and that was a huge mistake. Marshall had made it to the tourney several times and CCM hadn't made it once.

(If you remember correctly Marshall almost upset CBP in the tourney that year we were a 2 seed and Lofton hit that last second shot to beat Winthrop.)
