I hope Hurd turns out to be the best RB ever. However, I hold the opinion that until he does something, I refuse to anoint him as the greatest. Some of our fans toss so much praise on these kids, and then when they don't meet those expectations, those same people bash those kids as failures and busts.
Hurd has a lot of area's of concern, he has shoulder issues, he runs upright, and he has been injury prone. However, he also has the "ability" to be a complete game changer.
So, I hold to my belief that he will struggle, and then if he does, it's expected. If he amounts to even 1/2 of his potential, he will be an All-American. If he can stay healthy, and lower his pad level, he could be one of the best players in our history.
But, he has to earn those accolades.
^ That's how I'd feel if I were an objective ESPN analyst or maybe even an overly cautious and instinctively pessimistic fan who's afraid of being hurt again, but lucky for me I'm just a Vols fan, so I'll assume Jalen Hurd will be yet another great running back to add to Tennessee's rich history of great running backs. I prefer not to pretend everyone is going to suck just to insure I never get let down. Different strokes for different folks as they say.
