Five Vols Invited To NFL Combine - UTSPORTS.COM - University of Tennessee Athletics

KNOXVILLE - For the second season in a row, five Tennessee football players have been officially invited to the NFL Combine held from February 22-25, 2013 in Indianapolis, Ind. at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Seniors Zach Fulton, Ja'Wuan James, Dan McCullers and James Stone and junior Antonio Richardson have each received an invitation to the prestigious event.

Last season, Tyler Bray, Justin Hunter, Cordarrelle Patterson, Mychal Rivera, and Dallas Thomas were invited to the event. Hunter, Patterson, Rivera and Thomas were selected in the 2013 NFL Draft and all five players were on NFL Rosters this season.

Anybody think Miller and Walls will get a look?

I'd guess they both will get a shot as a UDFA. It may be difficult for them to make a team because they are undersized for a 3-4 DE, but probably not athletic enough to play DE in a 4-3. I do hope they both get a shot. They were our best linemen last year, IMO.

Good for him...thought he would be an eventual successor to Azzani or even Bajakian...let him coach around till an opening presents.

If we'd played Kentucky in week 1, and Miller had 4.5 sacks, and had otherwise performed exactly the same all season long, I bet the buzz on him would be different. That was a special performance, regardless of the opponent. I just think big performances earlier in the season change people's perceptions of players.

I hope they get looks, but we'll see.

I agree with all of this.

WR Preston Williams was a big early get for Tennessee.

On the heels of a 34-man 2014 class, the Volunteers show no signs of slowing up with seven commitments for 2015 already. Wideout Preston Williams (Hampton, Ga./Lovejoy), who recently accepted an invite to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, came back from missing most of his sophomore season to emerge as arguably the most physically dominant wideout in Georgia, regardless of class. With 2014 being the swan song for linebacker A.J. Johnson, Tennessee coaches have to be excited about Cecil Cherry (Frostproof,Fla./Frostproof), who possesses similar ability to diagnose plays quickly and fly to the football with very solid tackling skills. A high-motor defender that can track the ball carrier down rapidly, Andrew Butcher (Alpharetta, Ga./Alpharetta) has some upside as an upfield pass-rusher if he can continue to fill out and refine the use of his big oven mitts for hands. As a run blocker, Jack Jones (Murfreesboro, Tenn./Oakland) excels at using his solid punch and frame to knock defensive linemen into the second level. Zach Stewart (Coalfield, Tenn./Coalfield) has good size, uses his hands well and has good short area quickness. A very big frame should allow Dylan Jackson (Maryville, Tenn./Maryville) a chance to project to several positions on either side of the ball.

I'm not surprised either, heard good things about him. This is something we're just going to have to get used to when Jones starts winning big here. Can't wait for the meltdown when we land another Top 5 class and someone tries to lure Thig away with a D-coord position.
