Dropping a spot or two.....or maybe even a couple more.....has been expected from the get-go as most of the most highly recruited guys are always going to wait until the end of the recruiting period. If the Vols up in the top 5 it'll be fantastic. This class of commits, if it remains intact, will be one of the best ever and should indicate a solid talent base for any reasonable football fan. Those doubters and haters will come on here, anyways. Let's just look forward to more varying successes, like the solid APR, etc. The SEC's going to be really interesting these next four years or so, judging by all the talent coming to these schools, particularly in the SECw. Let 'em fight it out and shoot at beating the best from out there in Atlanta. For the most part, I'd much rather that talent go to ANYBODY other than the schools in the SECe. GBO!

About to drop 3 or 4 more spots next few days. Hope we rebound with a coupla high profile commits this month!:ermm::ermm::cray::cray:

SIAP but how does OSU have a higher ranking on Rivals? I know its just the top 20 but we have 2 five stars to their 1 and the same amount of four stars...

their 4* are rated higher than our 4*s.

6.0 4* gets more points than a 5.9 or 5.8 4*

also the higher ranked they are in the rivals250, the more "bonus points" they get

We have some super-sleeper 3#'s (like the slightly larger Berry, Creamer, et al.), as well as do other schools, so we can expostulate that the top 7 or 8 or so schools should have relatively close classes talent/need wise. What's notable is CBJ's excellent job of putting these players together as a unit.......a fact which has been getting across to most of them. That's the main reason they're so stoked up about themselves as a "legacy" class. Adoree plus another RB would make for the coup de gras, and hopefully another DT.:cool:

Fell to 5 in the ESPN rankings. A lot of our players dropped down in their recruit rankings as well. Hurd down to 70. Bates down to 105

keep in mind these rankings don't take into account every recruit. For us, they won't take into account @ 15 of them, or almost an entire class for some teams.

Top 10 is beyond amazing coming off a 5-7 season! Butch and co know who they're getting in each recruit so rankings really don't matter if in top 10

The all-american game (forget which one he went to) he got all kinds of praise in practice. THEN his coach just ignored him and hardly played him and when he did play and make tackles some other schmuck got credit even though Bates was the one who made them with the other guy assisting. I've never seen anything like it. I honestly think he got shafted because the teammate assisting him would celebrate like he was the one responsible while Bates was low key and just went right back to work. It's not like ESPN U announcers pay much attention -- even their stats people don't.

Also, that game was all about pumping up the uncommitted players and those set to commit during the program. Overall, those who'd already committed whether it was Bates or someone committed to another team got a lot less play and mention and being mentioned has a larger impact on star raters than they'll admit. Truth is they don't have time to watch and rate them all and prefer rating those who get a lot of mention higher over rating by performance.

Here we go. Just fell to 5 on ESPN. LSU now ahead of us. We are about to get passed by Florida State on Rivals. We need to a couple of 4-5 star surprises on signing day. Can Butch deliver?

We still have a great class, but Texas A&M flipped a recruit from Texas and have jumped us in rivals rankings. It's really no big deal, and we probably will re-jump them with a Derrell Scott commitment.

So if we somehow get Scott and Jackson and keep our current commits, it safe to say we would solidly be 2nd in all the rankings? Perhaps someone who is familiar with the point systems of the recruiting sites could calculate where we would be.

Some folks .... If yer doorbell rang an Taylor Swift wuz standin' there with her hand out an bUTch wuz sittin in the drivers seat of a white stretch limo at the curb waitin to take you on a 3 day date would ask why it ain't 4.
