'15 JUCO RB Alvin Kamara (UT commit 6/21/14)

"This kid was one of my favorite running backs in last year's class. I still think he'll end up being a stud wherever he goes. His departure had been coming for months. He was told he could play running back and when he showed up they put him at wide receiver. The relationship was damaged from the get-go and now he's back on the market. Because of his close friendship with Lorenzo Carter (his former teammate) it probably also cost Alabama him as well."

Which is exactly what everyone told him would happen. I know it's hard to believe everyone else when a coach is lying to you and your family to your face but sheesh.

He had people very familiar with the process and very close to him telling him that it was a bad decision to go to Bama, and he still went. Some kids just need to make mistakes and learn from them on their own. After all, haven't we all done that plenty in our lives? Also, don't rule UCLA out… If I remember correctly, doesn't he have family in California?

Wow, you mean when what everyone thought would happen, when Kamara arrived to T-Town, actually happened he was pissed about it and wanted to transfer??

I'm. Shocked.

The kid deserved to know the truth when he was being recruited but he also should have known that he was being fed a line of bull...

Some of life's best lessons learned come from situations like this. We have all made mistakes growing up. I would have loved for this young man to come to UT but I wish him luck.

Bama was pretty much out of it for Carter when Hand committed. They both were recruited to play jack. kamara did line up at RB in practice but the other RBs outplayed him. Bama had intentions to use him in different ways just to get him on the field. KO return, slot etc. Kamara came in thinking he had an opportunity to be the #2 back but he realized as well as the other freshman that Drake was better than they thought. Kamara was pretty much the #6th back

I'm wondering if he might go to JUCO for a year and play, then sign wherever he wants. Maybe Georgia Military College or somewhere else not too far from home.

Now I want to make sure I get this right. No matter where he goes this yr he will have to sit out one yr, correct? If so then I would def go to a juco college first.

I think Arnett was going to seek a hardship waiver because Dooley wouldn't release him to MSU. Then, when Dooley decided to release him, he was cleared to play immediately without the waiver. Pretty sure that's correct, which means, if Saban releases him, then he can go to any D1 school except in the SEC (unless Saban puts a restriction on other schools, like FSU for example).

For that to happen he would have transfer close to home to help care for an ill family member. Arnett was claiming his dad was ill.

That's not what I am saying. I am pretty sure Arnett did not have to seek a hardship waiver because of his dad's sickness, because Dooley ended up releasing him without restriction to Michigan State. I believe the same thing would happen with AK… If Saban releases him without restriction to anywhere outside of the SEC, then he will not have to sit out a year. And I may be completely wrong on this… I am sure someone will correct me that knows better.
