Parents definitely want him close enough so they can drive in for the games. UT is the closest option and his family seemed to really like the staff and UT on their visits.
.
Because they sacrificed being there during his high school days and want to be there for his collegiate days?We keep hanging our hat on this and it makes no sense to me.
His parents sent him all the way across the country to go to HS because it was what was "best for him"
Why on earth would his college choice have a close to home fell to it???
Makes zero sense. If he is a vol it won't e because we are closer to home IMO
Book It... Imagine ur Kid Playing on the other side of the country the last four Yrs.. His parents want to make up for the time missed.. In Due Time Gentlemen
The feeling I get is that Tennessee will be a player, because of distance to home and the chance he could get a lot of snaps on both sides of the ball.

Hubbs and Fort have said distance is a factor for awhile now. His family probably misses him and wants to see him more often and go to his games. This was from Fortenberry recently...
Getting national attention at a high school level is harder at some schools than others. I agree with your statement in principle that it won't be the reason but it becomes at least a small consideration at the college level. We keep hanging our hat on this and it makes no sense to me.

Google maps says Knoxville is 485 miles away and a 7:06 hour drive. Baton Rouge is 663 miles away and a 9:31 hour drive.
So the difference is not as much as you'd like, but it is significant. The Baton Rouge trip is close to being a 2 day trip rather than a 1 day drive.
