Hubbs Done For The Season (Confirmed)

Hubbs freshmen year now is very much like McRae's.

Hope we get a similar future

How so? And I don't. I rather him come in next season and be the man and not wait until his Junior year to fully develop.

Sure I would like hubbs to arrive a year sooner and more than likely will due to the roster.

I was more comparing their tough freshmen years. McRae said a few weeks ago he wished he had taken the RS BP suggested

Oh ok yeah in that sense I get what you're saying. I think Hubbs is ahead of where McRae was. I think next year will be shown he can be the man.

Wouldn't he have to go ahead and transfer and enroll at his school of choice for Spring 2014 if he hoped to play in January of 2015?

Sitting out because of injury won't count as satisfying the the one-year sitting requirement as a transfer if he were still enrolled at the original school would it?

Unless he gets an NCAA waiver. You have to sit out at the school you're transferring to for a year.

If he transferred this semester, he could be ready to go by January of 2015.

Seems like it would've come out as UT started back yesterday, he would've already had to of withdrawn no?

Let me start by making clear, obviously no, this is in no way a good thing.

Now that I've said that. I thought at multiple times this year, that Hubbs on the court was hurting us, sometimes both offensively and defensively. Martin gave him more of a green light than anyone on the team, and it showed by the amount of shots he put up. Sometimes I thought it contributed to some of our offensive woes because it almost looked at times like he was just trying to get his looks.

I love Hubbs and am trying to think of a better way to say this, but right now this may be the best thing. This team is playing their best ball, and has been doing so without him, or with little contribution from him. I can see this giving more minutes to 2 guys very deserving, Jordan McRae and Josh Richardson. Not saying that the transfer rumors were real, but if they were now Martin doesn't have to worry about finding him minutes. If McRae and Richardson are hot, ride them for 35 minutes a night, Barton can play a little 2 as well if needed.

Like I said at the beginning, it's obviously not a good thing, but this is an injury I definitely think we can get by with without much effect.

Nothing wrong with saying Hubbs wasnt playing well. Looked like he was searching for what to do. Maybe sitting and watching will help down the road. He has to handle the ball better and get away from his floater or at least use the square.

This should get Barton more minutes at the 2 also, right?

My man is en fuego!

I think that most all of us agree that Hubbs isn't where we or he wanted to be at this point in the season.
We aren't sure of the reason and he may or may not be... (jitters, injury, slump, competition..)

I hope that we can get his injury fixed, get another few months of practice at a higher level and be "Good to Go" for 2014-15.

I'm a Hubbs fan. He's a good kid

He cooled off in the 2nd half. I thought CM went to him early in 2nd half to keep him going. Nothing wrong with that really. However, he got hot in the flow of the game without thinking about it and without running plays for him. Sometimes when you know its coming to you, you think about making it and staying hot vs just shooting when the right time comes. All jmo of course.

Pretty sure it's mostly the shoulder that's been affecting him.

I hear ya. Its easier to get in the flow when your seeing more minutes tho. Also, that press kinda slowed everybody down in the 2nd. lol

Hopefully we will be better prepared for a zone press.

I've about lost hope on that. Nobody gets near the middle of the court to break it down and we seem to just have the goal of getting it across the line. One of the few disappointing things over the last few games that hasn't shown improvement or adjustments.

Just hope he sticks around, his jump shot looked nice but you could tell that shoulder was affecting it.

I thought that was the gist of what I said. If he wants to play anywhere else in January of 2015, he can't be enrolled at Tennessee for the spring semester in 2014, and must be enrolled at his school of choice instead for spring 2014.

Simply being injured and out for the season won't suffice. He has to transfer now if that is his intention. Similar to what Jeronne Maymon did after his first semester at Marquette by transferring to Tennessee midyear.

Robert's not going anywhere and I am at a loss at how this has gotten started.

The only thing I've ever heard is that Steven Pearl said on his radio show that Hubbs was threatening transfer if he didn't get playing time.

Even if true, Pearl seems kinda douchey for blasting it on the airwaves. I'm not sure I buy it. Hubbs doesn't seem like the type to do that.

I would certainly hope that is not true, but according to the stats he has gotten minutes. If the injury has kept him from scoring more that's understandable but the important thing is just getting him fixed. But even in the future, if any player wants 25-30 min a game, that comes with a caveat. You have to prove you deserve it. Being labeled a 5 star, and actually being a 5 star are two very different animals. The first will get you a cup of coffee at the Waffle House. The second will get you in the league.

Wasn't there rumors of dad being pissed and transferring him out???

If so perhaps this is to insure he can play next January after sitting out a year.

Bruin always bringing the "outside the box" perspective to the table. :whistling:
