Why did we send him to East Mississippi? Don't the coaches know they send their players to Ole Mi$$ or Mi$$ $tate in exchange for something on the $ide?
I doubt Tennessee would ever place a kid in a Mississippi JUCO. With all the corruption in Mississippi JUCO's the chances of every getting a kid back are slim to none. Unless Butch has a really good relationship with someone at East Mississippi the whole story sounds skeptical to me as far as Tennessee actually placing him there goes. Tennessee has always placed their kids in Kansas JUCO's.
Good info. Is there not somewhere actually in Tennessee we could put these kids? I'm not exactly comfortable with the idea of putting them in Ole Miss's backyard either.
Quick recruiting note...
Chris Clark from Gamecock Central caught up with 2015 juco defensive tackle DJ Jones, who we have mentioned several times and someone Tennessee helped get to Northeast Mississippi when he was coming out of high school, has an early top five of Alabama, FSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee and South Carolina in no order.
His sister does go to South Carolina so that's something to keep in mind, but just wanted to pass along the info.
D.J. JONES DL, 6-2/310, SCOOBA, MISS.
REASON FOR THE RANKING: Jones is already thought of as one of the top junior college defense linemen in the country with offers from Tennessee, Alabama, South Carolina, LSU, Florida State and more. Jones finished his first season at East Mississippi Community College with 49 tackles and eight sacks. He's not the most physically imposing defensive lineman, but he does have uncanny athleticism for someone his size and it shows by the amount of time he spends in the opponent's backfield.
THE SKINNY: While Jones was never likely to qualify last year coming out of high school in South Carolina, Tennessee stayed in regular contact with Jones and helped him find his way to EMCC and that definitely made an impression on Jones. Jones has a top five of Tennessee, Alabama, Florida State, South Carolina and Ole Miss, but he told Volquest recently that Tennessee will receive one of his official visit for sure.
Maybe it was just a good fit for him. Could help us if we have good connections with the juco and its coaches
