I've taken a break away from the board to handle some personal issues, but I wanted to ask a quick question. And it's not a trap question, or anything like that but an honest question(s) and I want a honest and best possible answer.

People ask if there's a God, why he doesn't perform miracles any more like he supposedly did in the Bible. When things that SEEM to be miracles to believers happen, it often gets labeled a coincidence. If I suffered from PTSD, for let's say 14-15 months, and I asked God for a miracle. That in Jesus name these symptoms would go away and never come back, and they haven't been back for over 3 years since that very moment I said that prayer, is it a miracle or just a coincidence?

Yes obviously I'm telling my story, and without that moment I'm not sure if I'd be a believer or not, I don't know. But I'm fully convinced Jesus heals, and he healed me that night. No you don't have to believe my story and no my story won't be enough proof for unbelievers and I know that. You'll say something along the lines of "the human mind tells you you're sick with these symptoms, it also tells you there's a man in heaven who heals so your human mind healed itself by believing the man in heaven can heal your symptoms" I don't know. But the question remains, was it just a coincidence?

If it happens once it could be a coincidence. When it happens several times......

to be fair he never gave them a shot

if the illness wasn't cured would that mean God doesn't exist/care? If the illness returns is that God's fault? Why was his illness cured while many other believers continue to suffer and die? The whole "God works in mysterious ways" is convenient but doesn't answer anything

Sometimes the answer is no.

+1

For every miraculous cure, I'm sure there is somebody who mysteriously falls ill for no reason. It has to work both ways.

Sometimes very good Christian people pray for years with no discernible answer. It's certainly worth questioning why God would help some but not others. Maybe people don't pray good enough, or ask the proper way. Makes one wonder.

Parents don't always give their kids everything they ask for.

I've always thought that argument is crap.

Sure. But there are situations where, by all accounts, faithful servants are merely asking for help with something in line with God's alleged will (even demanded). Why would God not assist there? All I'm saying is that it is worth questioning. It absolutely is.

It was no coincidence! Matthew 21-22 says if you believe you shall recieve! And John 13-14 says for what so ever you ask in my name you shall recieve! There's not a doubt in my mind that God answered your prayer! And speaking for my self I can tell a difference in my life as to the strength of my relationship with God! It's hard to explain really but I'll try! I can feel God leading me to make decisions in my everyday life! And I know that God truly blesses me and my family everyday because I'm one of those families that's a paycheck away from being homeless, but praise God I've always had a roof over my Hea and my family has never missed a meal and we have the things we need to live every day! Me and my wife both have jobs, that's a blessing in itself! I'm not the perfect Chriatian and don't claim to be I have my faults, which convinces me even more that God is a truly forgiving God! Which leads me to the next area of my response in that when I do deviate from his guideance and leading I can feel that as well and feel very very guilty! But I'm not meaning to rant just felt I needed to share my belief and where my faith comes from. My faith comes from the blessings he provides for me everyday! God Bless and merry CHRISTmas!

Or maybe he just doesn't like them...hmm

So God is a deadbeat father.

Planted the seed, then disappears. I need to sue for child support.

He didn't say God did not provide for his children everything they needed...He said God does not give his children everything they ask for..in the same way parents don't give their children everything they ask for.

I have a 17 yr old grandson (lives with me) he asked me to buy him a new truck, I did not...but he has never gone hungry, never needed cloths he didn't get, has a good bed is educated etc.

By your logic, That would make me a deadbeat as well????????

It's obvious you don't love him. If you did you would buy him a new truck and give him a credit card to go along with it.

Sarcasm my friend.

it's not even close to the same thing. In what world is not getting a truck comparable to a person enduring real pain and suffering with no answer?

It's a analogy PJ. It's too early in the morning to get butt hurt.

Who are we to decide what is or isn't the same in Gods eyes?

God never promises us no suffering.

again, not the point. Any God that allows innocents to truly suffer while others are miraculously healed of their ailments can't be described as a loving God by anyone thinking rationally.

Maybe if they followed Christ and gave their life to him, their suffering would stop.

it's a worthless analogy and it's not butthurt to call it what it is

but you're probably right. We should all just accept everything is God's plan and merrily go on our way. After all, who are we to question the great and powerful bearded man in the sky?

innocent children don't have that ability yet they are allowed to suffer. People who know nothing of Christ don't have that ability yet are allowed to suffer. Any ideas on what they should handle their situations?

What is it hurting you PJ? What does my belief in Christ cost you or any other atheist?

Be real PJ. Me going to church does what to you?

nothing. Enjoy living a life while you feel blessed and protected while not acknowledging the ones who aren't.

My issue is that people want to push agendas based on this yet ignore the inconsistencies. How many times have you heard "we need God in our schools/lives/govt/country" and everything will get better?

I'm also not an atheist. Kinda tired of that label being applied any time someone dares question anything
