Then what is the point of the thread, which you have been highly active in? To point out that Ainge doesn't have intensity, is vanilla (he calls plays apparently now), can't throw a deep ball, isn't a leader and isn't a winner? This comes hours after an embarrassing loss. Give us a damn break, TVA. Everyone know you have man-love for Crompton. Will your heart be broken if Stephens, Coleman, or Dylan Dickey get the nod next season? Are they intense enough?

I'm for anybody that plays with some intensity and makes plays. I don't care if it's Crompton, BJ Coleman... whoever.

Ainge didn't lose us the game. I'm not sure where you deciphered that anyone said that Ainge is calling plays. Oh well...

If you mean that me calling Ainge "vanilla" means that I'm saying that he's calling plays (probably the biggest leap or lack of reading comprehension I've ever seen), then you are way off. Vanilla means he doesn't lose us the game... nor does he do enough to win us the game. He's not making plays the same way JPW did yesterday.

I agree Dude,he's starting to annoy the H___ out of me as well.Ainge has done his part.I did hear that Coleman has a good shot at being qb though, yesterday as a matter of fact.

JPW was getting absolutely no pressure, anyone could have played QB for Bama, that's is a stupid comparison.

It seams to me that whenever a team loses it's always the QB's fault. Why did we not go for it on fourth and one? Why did we abandon the run? Why did we give up so many yards on special teams? Why is it on kick off and punt returns, we can't seem to get no more than 15 yards?Why is it in big games we never look prepared like on the opening kick off? I guess this is all Eric Ainge's fault. Obviously.

I Agree with that, West Coast attitude at QB for to long now in Knoxville. Laid back crap. Get pissed off every once in a while.

But the Leadership starts with the Head Coach. And everytime something bad happens you see fulmer on the sideline slumping over or blowing and droping his shoulders. The players pick up on it. That is the way they play. Look at the UF, Cal, and Bama. Someone hits them in the mouth a few times and they fold. Like their coach.

We need a change in this program and we need it now!!!!

I agree with you. I have never thought he was in that upper crust of the QB's either. He is fair, but fair is not good enough. He remimds me of Doug Johnson for my Gators. Can make all the throws, but does not have it between the ears-imo.

The only problem with Ainge is that his name is too short. If only the media would start referring to him as "Eric Douglas Ainge" he would be spectacular. "Ainge" or just "Eric Ainge" doesn't cut it.

Are you people serious? Rick Clausen is the worst QB to line up under center in my lifetime. He couldn't throw the ball 25 yards. I'm not even 100% positive that he was really left handed. The coaches completely mishandled the QB situation that year and it led to Ainge being a head case and being reduced to starting a QB with Pop Warner level arm strength. Todd Helton was a better QB than Clausen.

We had one of the top 5 defenses in the nation in 2005, but our offense was so bad that we couldn't even play a low scoring, conservative game plan because they'd turn the ball over so often putting the D in a hole. I think our offense gave up as many points as our defense that year and Clausen had a lot to do with that. This year, Ainge and our offense are adequate (although not imaginative...which is not the QB's fault), but the D is terrible. Big difference.

For God's sakes, Lucas Taylor is leading the SEC in receiving...it takes a helluva QB to make that happen. Those two QB's are not even in the same stratosphere...any idiot can see that.

Then again, this is the same fan base who used to argue with me that Branndon Stewart should start over Peyton Manning because, "he's more like Shuler, dangit!" (Yeah...well, Manning is more like Marino, but who am I to say than Marino is better than Shuler?) :fool:

The heck with it, stick Crompton in and let him finish the season......

This same QB that was the worst to ever come on campus and couldn't throw it 25 yards was in a dogfight competinting with Ainge in the 2005 summer practices. If Ainge 1) couldn't seperate himself from this joker and 2) allowed himself to become a headcase, then he doesn't have it in him to be a true leader on the field. Insult Clausen all you want, but he saved Ainge's hide in Baton Rouge and at least Clausen has a bowl victory under his belt... something Ainge hasn't been able to say yet. But maybe we'll beat UTEP or N. Texas or somebody in Shreveport/Memphis.

So because we have WR's who either don't get open past the 1st down marker or don't run past the 1st down marker, Ainge is a poor leader?

Tennessee's been running routes short of the 1st down for years. The hope is that the WR will make a play (it's idiotic and rarely works, but that's the explanation the coaches give). It has nothing to do with Ainge. It has to do with Tennessee coaches.

We'll look back one day and discover that Ainge was very underappreciated...probably after he has a long NFL career.

So which NFL team drafted Rick Clausen again? :p

I am not saying Ainge is the reason we lost yesterday......all I am saying is he doesn't really do anything for us to win.....yeah, you can blame it on play calling.......but just remember the play calling depends on what your OC has confidence in!! I don't think Cut trusts Ainge and the deep ball.......the INT yesterday was OK, he was trying to make a play, he was giving effort......what I dont like is how he blows up after a turnover and just lays down.....our whole team does that and if that is a reflection of our coaching....then we have to reevaluate what our true goals are for our football program!! WOW, I just said that?

Crompton, Stevens... whoever. And while we're at it, lets get our guys to stop giving the receivers 8 yards cushion. Whats the worse that could happen? We get blown out? Can't get much worse than 59-20 or 41-17. What good does it do to keep the receivers in front of you if the opposition is still going to drop 40+ points on you? What good does it do to "take what the defense gives us" on offense if we are still only managing 13 (Florida) and 17 (Bama) points on offense against SEC rivals? Seems like the bend don't break/take what they give you crap isn't keeping games close... it's getting us blown out, so may as well roll the dice and put somebody in there with some fire/energy behind center and let the guys play closer to the LOS on defense and maybe give up a big play every now and then.

Couldn't hurt any worse than it is now.
