The Official NASCAR Talk Thread

If Harvick would have taken over it would have been a similar situation to what Dillion is doing now. It would have been a rookie taking that number. Now, Harvick would have been a little different in the fact that he was thrown in the car after the accident.

I don't know that Harvick would have wanted that number considering the circumstances he was taking over the ride. I think I saw an interview with him before were he stated he didn't want the number and was really unsure of taking over that "car".

That being said I don't think there is anyone that could take that number and me be ok with it. If Jr. had taken it, it would be just that much more pressure on him to perform and when he didn't perform just that many more people saying he was a failure.

I should have elaborated. I think harvick in the 3 in 2001 or 02 would have been a mistake, but I think from 03 on it would have been fine.

That's an interesting thought. I don't know how that would have worked. I think it took a lot of people a lot longer that two or three years to get over Sr.'s death. There are still some die hard fans that still aren't over it.

Is there a driver out there you would have liked to see take over the 3? (serious question)

Haven't really thought much about it.... if I had to throw a short list off the top of my head though I would go with Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, or maybe Biffle. Their driving style reminds me a lot of what I saw in Earnhardt. They've all won before and can make the 3 competitive every week.

I'd say one of the Busch bros. Biffle is a little too soft for it IMO

Kyle probably would have been my choice just because of his style of driving and the attitude he has.

You mean the same Biffle that got picked off the ground by Kevin Harvick after a Busch race? The same Biffle who Jr told to GTFO in the last two Daytona 500s because he acted like making a move for the win would make him crap his pants? I'm one of the people who is glad to see the number come back, but if Biffle were driving it, I would start questioning RC's sanity.

Most of the drivers have whined like a little beech more than once. All I said was his driving style reminded me a little of Earnhardt. I could care less about car #s to tell you the truth. Just figured since all the Earnhardt fans think the 3 is so sacred, they would want a more proven driver behind the wheel.

Wallace returning to KBM, Ren out? According to NASCAR Camping World Truck Series reporter Ray Dunlap, Darrell "Bubba" Wallace will return to KBM and the #54 truck team for 2014. Contract not officially official, but its a done deal. Also due to consolidation at Kyle Busch Motorsports, Rick Ren no longer the General Manager.
