A ton of soccer haters in thr recruiting forum football talk thread

I swear the people who rail against soccer all the time aren't watching the same soccer I am (or more likely, just not watching it at all). I get that the game isn't for everyone, and bores some people. But to simply dismiss it like a lot of those guys are as a game for nerds with no athleticism is just stupid.

Funny thing is... the one sport where you can just pick out a tremendous athlete who has never played before and have success is... American football.

Yup. Look at Ezekiel Ansah.

Or if you are 7'0, basketball.

That game would go so poorly for those nflers

How long do you think their conditioning would hold out before they just couldn't run anymore? They're still world class athletes, so it's not like they'd be toast after 10 minutes or something, but there's a HUGE difference between being able to run lightning fast for 100 yards and then rest versus jogging almost continuously with more than occasional sprinting mixed in for an hour and a half.

Lol. Was almost joking, but not really. You give a great foreign coach that speaks English a week with the best athletes in the US, I really think it could happen.

Your quote is noted :)

He's doubling down on his stupidity...

I agree. Football is where the $ is. Basketball and baseball aren't too far behind. Other sports are running with torn ACLs trying to catch up

...and then quickly following it up by demonstrating that he has absolutely no knowledge of professional sports contracts. Baseball has far and away the highest paid players.

Per Frank Wren...

"But in the case of our club, I don’t see necessarily a frontline move," Wren said. "I see more support moves, where you’re adding a bat that can give you power off the bench, or adding to our bullpen, or adding to the depth of our rotation. I see more of those kind of moves than a big frontline move.”

Here's to another great regular season followed by a first round exit in the playoffs again.

Said it many times, I'll say it again.. It doesn't matter who we do or don't bring in, we will never win anything of real substance with Fredi as our skip. Not sure how Frank and boys do not realize this.

It was still roughly around this time last year that there were no, or maybe only one, Upton on the roster. Frank is a pretty shrewd GM.
