No, we hate it because it isn't interesting. There isn't any physical domination. There isn't ever an instant where one team is crushing the will of the other team. There are no phenom athletes making insane plays. If Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, and megatron played soccer, it might be interesting, but with a bunch of pedestrian looking folks whose physical talent doesn't go far beyond running, it just lacks appeal.

Haven't seen many more posts that are so incredibly wrong.

People here would love a 21-14 football game but hate a 3-2 soccer game "cuz only 5 goals were scored."
And seeing crazy athleticism, constant big hits, insane skills, etc. I don't think any of these traits apply to soccer.

Also JW here, of all you soccer dudes, do any of you support UT soccer? Not being an ass, I'm legitimately wondering.

I don't understand. Every country in the world loves soccer (except Canada), so the US has to hate soccer. It's an excellent sport. There is excessive flopping at times... but there is a reason the entire world loves it

I love World Cup soccer. I'll admit that soccer isn't fun to watch when it isn't played at a high level. I think that's what some people base their opinions off of...AYSO, high school, etc.

If you watch a game where the worlds best players are competing on the highest stage, it is literally one of the most exhilarating things to watch on tv.

This. I honestly feel I could throw Darren Sproles, CJ2K, CP, Patrick Peterson, etc out there and beat the US national soccer team.

I never played soccer, but I love watching the world cup. This the Super Bowl for every country but us it seems.

The precision, skill level and teamwork in a well played soccer match is fascinating to watch IMO.

True. It lacks appeal, is uninteresting, no man on man rivalry, no interesting man on man matches between 2 great players. In other words... It sucks... Unless you're the progressive nerd type who didn't make the football team

I don't hate soccer because the rest of the world loves it. I don't hate it at all actually, the flopping is ridiculous at times. I just don't enjoy watching it on television, it's boring. Very very boring, IMO. Same reason I don't watch golf, tennis, hockey or baseball most of the time.

Now, playing those sports is fun and I'm all about attending most of these sports in person but as a televised sport all I have the attention span and time for is football and basketball. Much more exciting to me as a fan. I rank televised sports as: CFB, NFL, CBB, NBA, MLB.....the rest. And for the record, as a kid, I played soccer, hockey, baseball, basketball and football. But as an adult I just don't enjoy watching much of it on TV. I'd rather go down the street to watch a little league baseball game in person than watch the World Cup on TV. JMO IMO TIFWIW

And I don't care if you and others on here watch soccer and love every second of it, I'm not going to hate on that. I have plenty of family members and friends who love watching soccer. I was just having some fun with gifs last night. No harm intended. :peace2:

There are a ton of phenomenal athletes making insane plays. You just have never watched the sport, clearly

There is crazy athleticism and insane skills in soccer without a doubt. Doesn't have to be physical to display these attributes.

Lol it wasn't aimed at you Ron.

I'm talking 6'8" 275 pounds of pure muscle that just dominates people like Lebron with not on size and power, but speed abd explosiveness too. Should have been clearer. And I really hate Bron Bron FWIW.

Some of you need to stretch yourselves. There is room for you to like more than just American football. Soccer is a great game. And when it is played at competitive levels it is very physical as well. As far as 6'8" and 275, I guarantee you he would not be able to run enough to keep up.

And I still don't inderstand why it can't be discussed in the soccer forum. I presume that is what it is for. I DON'T CARE ABOUT SOCCER. I look on here to find out about UT football recruiting.

How? The only skill/athleticism I see is good cardio endurance. Maybe 1/25 games a "wow" play might happen. I see those 20+ times a game watching football.

I can appreciate the intelligence and endurance factor of soccer, but as far as being a "freak" athlete, I see none.

This is a very uninformed post. Like I said prior, people with this opinion never played it at a high level of competition and it's clear that you haven't made it a point to watch it.

LeBron would. I would bet a ton of $ on that.

One of the most stupid paragraphs I've ever read.

Again, dude, no.
