There are a ton of phenomenal athletes making insane plays. You just have never watched the sport, clearly
And seeing crazy athleticism, constant big hits, insane skills, etc. I don't think any of these traits apply to soccer.
Also JW here, of all you soccer dudes, do any of you support UT soccer? Not being an ass, I'm legitimately wondering.
Ahh. I don't know much about any sports at UT besides basketball and football. I try to watch more pro sports though. Still soccer is not one :lol:I'll look at the match finals from time to time but I like national soccer as it's the nations best playing on the pitch. I used to watch Premier but haven't been able to get back into since I graduated college.

There are a ton of good athletes worldwide playing it obviously. It's just a shame that their talents are wasted in such a boring endeavor. Prob is it's the only game in town. If loyalties were fractured by having diff options, these young kids might play other sports, rather than growing up and becoming an insane soccer fan who is crushed and trampled to death. I wrote a paper on this once and was very surprised to learn the death rate at a soccer match compared to any other sport. My conclusion was that if it wasn't the only thing to pull for in half the world, things might not get so out of hand. Alas, it's about the only game in town for a young European sports fan
How? The only skill/athleticism I see is good cardio endurance. Maybe 1/25 games a "wow" play might happen. I see those 20+ times a game watching football.
I can appreciate the intelligence and endurance factor of soccer, but as far as being a "freak" athlete, I see none.
Sam pretty much covered it, and he has more experience watching live games than me too it seems. There are freak athletes all over the world in Soccer. Go watch a world cup match or a Premier League game and tell me these guys aren't freak athletes!?
If a lot of these guys grew up playing an American sport, they'd be a freak athlete in it as well. More people play soccer than any other sport in the world, so to get to the highest level you can't be a Jim Bob Cooter.
No, I've seen plenty of soccer games. Hell, I went to a roma game when I was in Italy. It was a fun experience, but not because the game was super interesting. They just jog around the entire game and jump in the air on occasion. Nothing insane about that.
That's actually a fair point. It is a similar situation to Americans with soccer- we grew up loving these other sports, so soccer is not as big. Where as they only had soccer and are just now recently being opened up to new sports. I'm not saying one sport is better than the other. Personally, I prefer baseball over any sport. For everyone saying there is no action in soccer, it's a testimate to how difficult it is to score in soccer. It personally makes me appreciate the goals scored that much more
True. It lacks appeal, is uninteresting, no man on man rivalry, no interesting man on man matches between 2 great players. In other words... It sucks... Unless you're the progressive nerd type who didn't make the football team
I can see how other people dig it... Honestly... I just don't personally prefer it. And the aforementioned deaths lead me to believe that the world is involved in an unhealthy obsession with a single sport.
Stupid because it is untrue? Or stupid because you're butthurt about the truth?
I really think if we didn't suck (USA national team), causing US pro leagues to suck too, that number could be smaller. You say what 90% of Americans feel and jimmies get rustled... Does it really matter if it's unfounded, stupid, or valid even. If you don't like it you don't like it
Someone can disagree with you and not be butthurt, you know that right?
You just don't know anything about soccer. It's okay. I'm not going to sit over here and call you butthurt about it. You just don't.
I'm not even saying you should give it a shot. I'm only saying that your statement was wrong.
