Agreed. The whole idea was dumb. It's much easier to pick the right two teams than the right four teams. There's a much larger gap between #2 and #3 than #4 and #5.

Is there any question that the championship should be FSU/Auburn this year? No. Who would be the other two teams if it was next year? How can you decide between 2 of Alabama, Ohio St., Michigan St., Stanford and Baylor???

I could easily see how there could be only 2 of the top 4 teams in a four team playoff. The other 2 teams could be in the 5 through 7 rankings. That means you could have 2 teams left out of the 4-team playoff that are ranked in the top 4. In most cases at least 1 of them will be an SEC team. It's all about politics and the national anti-SEC bias.

Edit: Don't get me wrong, I am not opposed to an honest 4 team playoff system if one could be devised. However, the system they are going to has evolved because the SEC has won 7 straight National Titles. The talk for a playoff system gathered steam after about the 3rd Title and I'm sure leadership from the other conferences are looking for a way to shut the SEC out.

No worries. We have like 6 German born players in our pool (American servicemen doing work). We will finish in the top 2 of the group.

Absolutely no way. I know 90% or a little more could care less about soccer, but America drew the group of death. Ghana has knocked us out of the last 2 WCs, Portugal is a great team with the best player in the world, and Germany in my opinion is the best team in the world. Barring we play out of our minds, we're screwed. Sorry, that was my soccer rant, now back to the Souths sport. Merricka!!!

I'm sure it's nothing..

Some guy on another board has it all figured out. He's been tracking flights all day. Saban to Texas is coming.

Paul Bryant Jr's plane, N323P, departs Tuscaloosa 8:20AM CST, lands in Austin at 10:08AM CST. Could possibly be Terry on her way to her new home?

At 11:36AM CST Execjet flight EJA947 left Memphis, Sexton's home, and landed in Louisville at 1:18PM CST. Louisville is the closest major town to Elizabethtown, where Saban is rumored to be recruiting today. At 3:27PM EST, that the same plane left Louisville for Austin where it landed at 4:48PM CST. Maybe this was Sexton picking up Saban in Louisville and taking him to meet his wife in Austin?

Also this afternoon, Flexjet flight LXJ625 departed Tuscaloosa at 12:45PM CST and landed at 3:18PM EST in Opa Locka, FL. At 1:56PM EST XOJET flight XOJ792 left Teterboro, where the UT AD big wigs were, and landed at Opa Locka at4:23PM EST. Flexjet flight LXJ625, the flight that left Tuscaloosa earlier in the afternoon, is scheduled to depart Opa Locka at9:10PM EST and reutrn to Tuscaloosa at 9:41PM CST. I think there is something to this. Possibly UT people meeting with UA people about Saban's buyout, if he has one.

I know it woulda been good to make a bowl and get those extra practices in, among other things. I said after vu that not going to a bowl would at least give give this staff even more time to focus on the 15 class (since 14 is pretty much wrapped up) compared to other sec teams that are trying to prepare for a bowl and recruit before the dead period.

Who knows what would've benefited us more in the long run? Going to a bowl or this staff having a lot more time than others to work on not only closing out 14 strong but to continue the strong start to 15 and to continue to build those relationships with what looks like could be a really good class as well. We may actually spend as much time, if not more, on the 15 class than the 14 between now and NSD14, which is nice considering the past few years.

At about this same time the last two years after going 5-7 and missing a bowl under dipshat, we still had tons of questions as to how that current class would finish. Not to mention, we were nowhere near as far along with the next cycle's recruits like Butch and this staff are. The difference is just enormous.

Think about it.........Ertel, Jake, and crew were out painting the rock every weekend for VN hoping to help lure another top prospect we would eventually finish 2nd for and Dooley probably didn't even have a board of targets for the next year's cycle yet.

"Jalen who?" "Todd Kelly Jr? He seriously lives in Knoxville?" "Who the heck are these twins, uhhhhh......can't think of their names, that people keep talking about?" "Can you believe how many of our commits Rival's has as 2 stars!? Ha!" "Brent Hubbs and those guys doubting my evals.......please." The guy never even called V Bell for crying out loud!

Now, just look at how many 15 recruits are on the first 2-3-4 pages of this forum. Not just recruits, either. We've already gotten a handful or more commits and dang good one's too. Anyways, just thought I'd mention it in case anyone needed more confirmation that we're about to explode. V,B!

Durbach is not far from stuttgart.. the same state... baden-württemberg. Come over...this is also very nice there !

Would love to. Like I said, my dad has been several times and visited the family we still have there. We also have family from Karlsrhue which I know is not too far either.

Wrong and wrong. Ghana is not better than they were 4 years ago. They beat us with a fortunate volley in extra time. We are getting revenge this time. And Portugal rely too much on Ronaldo even though they have other good players. They barely qualified for the World Cup. Hell, even Germany is hurting in the striker position (even though their midfield is stacked). I'm bullish about our chances despite the tough group.

What are they saying in Germany about our group mamba? I assume most are backing Germany and Portugal to finish 1-2?

I want Saban to go to Texas just so I can laugh at my Bama friends when they meltdown

There are some guys down in Bama who are beginning to entertain the notion that Alabama is the only college team Gruden would leave MNF to coach. No link, just a hunch.

Portugal and Germany are elite teams, and Ghana is just about even with us talent wise. Germany being weak at striker is kinda laughable. You are in a tiny minority that believe we have a chance.

I'm best friends with his wife's third cousin twice removed - you know, cause they're from Tennessee - and I hear the family owns some property just outside of Tuscaloosa.

Edit - Looking forward to reading TideWarrior's novel on how Gruden's MOU was not committable.
