'15 TN DB Rico McGraw

"Just wanted to pass it on that Willie Martinez stopped by Ensworth in Nashville yesterday to check on safety Rico McGraw and his coaches. He stayed and watched his practice as well.

If I learn of any additional visits involving the Vols, I'll either post an update here or inform Paul."

Well, Rico is a guy who really peaked early and if we did this list last year at this time he would have been in the 100. But with everything that's gone on off the field with him and the fact that he's not the best DB on his team means he's probably not a 250 guy at this stage.

He really had problems with Devin Perry the other night in the state championship game, and if the weather weren't an issue I think it would have been even worse.

Hope they don't think Donavan Sheffield is better than McGraw.

Does anyone know what he means by all thats happened with him off the field?

My guess is its who he has been associated with off the field. Guys associated with De'Vinner types are going to suffer in the rankings from here on out. That is definitely an off-field issue being around that guy and his crowd and a big red flag for most coaching staffs.

Does anyone know is De'Vinner still in Nashville? He needs to be run back to Memphis where he belongs with all those other corrupt coaches and handlers that use kids for their own advantage.

I like that this staff is not wasting much time in Memphis.

Same here. You are clearly seeing a number of top shelf programs beginning to get away from focusing a lot of time and effort into that city. Way too much corruption has gone on among the high school coaches, handlers, etc..

Quite honestly outside of maybe 1 or 2 kids a year the players arent good enough when you consider all the issues they bring with them. Identify a talented kid who comes from a good family and is beyond the corruption and those are the only kind of kids big-time programs will recruit out of there in the future IMO.

Let the shady underhanded also-ran programs like the Ole Miss and Miss State's of the world duke it out to see who can get into bed with those coaches, their staffs and those idiot school board types down there. At the end of the day it's not going to help them compete for championships.

I think this is why you will not see us recruit McMillon as hard as we would if he were not in a Memphis public school.

While a lot of the talent comes from within the city, do any of you think it makes any difference when the municipal districts start next year? I'm not a Memphis native just here for four years.

I was about to comment on this. Carr is from WS, which is a charter type school, not a typical public school in Memphis. Richmond is at MUS, private. I wouldn't lump Mosely in because 1. Brighton is rural and 45 minutes outside Memphis, and 2. there are alot of Vol fans in Tipton County.

I don't know that the new municipal school format is going to change anything with where kids will go to college. There are alot of former Memphis football players that are local head coaches, but I also don't think that matters much as they understand a kid will want to go play at big time D1 schools.
