'14 JUCO DT Davonte Lambert (Auburn Commit 12/18/13)

The twitter birds NEED to jump on and reassure Lambert that we know he isn't going to flip and can't wait to see him in orange. This would be a massive blow... fans need to chilltf out.

Not a big fan of tweeting recruits seeing how it tends to go bad more often than not, but I agree now's the time to tell Davonte we have his back. And by that I mean a "Go Vols, can't wait to see you orange". Not a Sab like love letter that comes off as creepy and strange.

Actually it tends to go well more often than bad, by far. The bad situations just get all the attention for obvious reasons. UT fans are usually pretty good about this.

Leads me to believe this was Auburn(Rodney Gardner's) plan all along. It's all about relationships right? I'm guessing a school like Auburn who has been known to use less then savory tactics maybe used Keith Niebuhr as a tool to over exaggerate Lambert's interest in another school to put our paranoid fan base into full meltdown mode. Possibly a desperation attempt on Auburn's part to get the fans to turn on Lambert and possibly flip him to poison tree plains. Obviously this conspiracy theory involved a little extra tin foil. But hey, it is recruiting, and some coaches would give their 1st born to land a 5 star recruit.

I blame the Illuminati.

One of the most interesting early developments is the DaVonte Lambert and Auburn situation. Lambert remains adamant in talking to Volquest.com that he is a strong Vol commitment. John Brice will have a story from Lambert on Friday.

But, we also know Auburn isn't giving up and Auburn was trying to meet with Lambert and/or his family on Thursday as Auburn is trying to remain in the picture as they try to sway the four-star junior college defensive end.

Steve Stripling visited with Lambert on Wednesday at Georgia Military College and Tennessee head coach Butch Jones will meet with Lambert some time next week, likely later in the week.

HEY!! This isn't just another babyavi...this is the original, the one and only babyavi! Freak, please change my screen name and ban the fake, wanna be babyavi.

Ohhh yeah, I forgot that you were the original OGBabyavi. I retract my previous statement.

With Jarren Reed heading to Tuscaloosa, in my mind, Lambert is the biggest recruit for the Vols. Butch has to find a way to hold onto him. Without him, the Vols thin defensive line gets even thinner.

Defensive line is one area that Butch has not been able to get the numbers to fill the needs as we would all like them.

Debatable.

Hendrix, Barnett, Lambert, Henderson, Williams, Thomas, and Mixon. That's not addressing the DL need? We're still recruiting DL guys on top of all of these commitments.

Nothing really new from AU -

Reports regarding Lambert's trip to Auburn last weekend are cloudy. Lambert remains committed to Tennessee and visited with teammate and Auburn commit, Devaroe Lawrence. When reached for comment following his visit, Lambert told AuburnSports that nothing had changed with his commitment status, but he did admit that he was interested in Auburn. This week, Lambert has maintained behind the scenes, with both Auburn and Tennessee, he's committed to the Vols and doesn't plan on flipping. But that hasn't stopped Garner from visiting the family on Thursday night.

Lambert is critical as a JUCO. We need someone physically ready day 1. Luckily Hendrix and Barnett are more physically advanced than typical freshman so I expect them to be on field early as well. However lambert is a guy you know 100 percent can make a huge impact day 1

A far cry from what Keith Niebuhr was claiming Wednesday night on 247.

Funny. Not really blaming anyone. Just know that recruiting is a dirty game of poker and obviously Keith Niebuhr, who happens to be the writer of the Auburn 247 sports page, didn't make this claim without someone cattle prodding him to do it. Especially with the heat he is catching over it right now.

Niebuhr is a 247 national guy, but with Lucky owning 247 I get your point.

Lets see who plays DT in 2014 and see how they do before proclaiming all is well.
