Even More Obamacare Follies

End Medicare? Good luck with that.

End Medicaid? Good luck with that.

And there's the problem! Afraid to make the hard decisions for the good of the country in the long run. Kick the can further down the road.

CNN: No Obamacare subsidy for some low-income Americans - CNN.com

But a CNN analysis shows that in the largest city in nearly every state, many low-income younger Americans won't get any subsidy at all. Administration officials said the reason so many Americans won't receive a subsidy is that the cost of insurance is lower than the government initially expected. Subsidies are calculated using a complicated formula based on the cost of insurance premiums, which can vary drastically from state to state, and even county to county.
That doesn't change the fact that in Chicago, a 27-year old will receive no subsidy to help offset premiums of more than $165 a month if he makes more than $27,400 a year.

Despite the secretary's assurance, a 25-year-old living in Nashville, Tennessee, making $25,500 will not qualify for a subsidy, for example.

why give numbers on anyone under 26yo? Very few have any need to purchase it

I'm 25. I have to have my own insurance. My parents can't afford the new premiums with us on it anymore. I would imagine there are many like me.

No security ever built into Obamacare site: Hacker

It could take a year to secure the risk of "high exposures" of personal information on the federal Obamacare online exchange, a cybersecurity expert told CNBC on Monday.

"When you develop a website, you develop it with security in mind. And it doesn't appear to have happened this time," said David Kennedy, a so-called "white hat" hacker who tests online security by breaching websites. He testified on Capitol Hill about the flaws of HealthCare.gov last week.

"It's really hard to go back and fix the security around it because security wasn't built into it," said Kennedy, chief executive of TrustedSec. "We're talking multiple months to over a year to at least address some of the critical-to-high exposures on the website itself."
Another online security expert—who spoke at last week's House hearing and then on CNBC—said the federal Obamacare website needs to be shut down and rebuilt from scratch. Morgan Wright, CEO of Crowd Sourced Investigations said: "There's not a plan to fix this that meets the sniff test of being reasonable."
"When you look at the site itself, it could be really good. It could do really well. They're just not building the security into the site itself," said Kennedy. "Putting your information on there is definitely a risk."

So basically the sight is worthless and needs to be completely rebuilt unless you want your identity stolen. Good job, Obama, you piece of crap.

You didn't even read what you quoted, did you?

Subsidies were created to help lower income individuals/families afford the new healthcare, but premiums are lower than expected, therefore no subsidies for many. And you cite this as a bad thing? In what way is this bad?

Now you are advocating for subsidized healthcare?

Yea I did read it. This whole thing was sold to poor people as "if you make less than $40-60K, you wont pay anything". Someone making $26K will have to pony up $165 a month for a crappy catastrophic plan is a total disaster. Have you seen how expensive these plans are?

I checked for my family and a crappy catastrophic plan in my zip code is $200 more than my current family plan and has a deductible 3x higher. Its going to be a huge burden on families

Anyone not recognizing the website as a clear, total disaster at this point should have their head examined.

Enrollment is going up. By a lot. The numbers don't lie.

Anecdotally my sister logged in to signup Sunday and was given a range of 61 plans, with better benefits and price than available to her before.

But this was designed to help insure the uninsured. The majority who have to pony up a dollar won't. Millions will pay considerably more. Much more! It's a disaster.

Yeah... I checked back when it first went live, and my premium would be significantly less than what I'm paying through my employer, and that's unsubsidized.

So all the stories about the premiums being wildly more than they were prior are blown way out of proportion, I think. But we believe what we choose to believe.
