'14 TN WR Josh Malone (UT commit 12/4/13)

In 1 HS season he caught almost 100 balls and gained almost 2000 yards and 20+ TDs. All a sudden he can't catch a single pass. IMO, it comes down to coaching or lack there of. JMO

You act like he was some superstar recruit. The kid had 3 offers: Tennessee, Cincy and Arkansas. Also you brought up Jordan Matthews being a low star recruit, he is an exception to the rule. If he was that good he would have gotten offers from a bunch of major programs.

Some guys just naturally have it, like North and some guys don't like Smith.

God I hope Dobbs absolutely shreds UK for about 300 yards and leaves zero doubt in Malone's mind about UT. And then Chad Morris lands a HC job somewhere by December 1.

Woody Wommack also said that Clemson is selling Josh that even if Chad Morris leaves they are promoting from within and not to worry. Not sure who that would be but sounds like bs to me. But Woody said that's what he was told by recruits.

LOL at that line of BS. Morris is the Malzahn to Dabo's Chizik imo.

haha that's fine just don't get mad at me if I'm wrong! It happens from time to time. :)

I still think we land Malone but sounds like Clem$on is making it interesting. Woody Wommack said that FSU "put Malone on the back burner" which sounds like sour grapes to me after the Malones likely told them nevermind.

I knew once the info leaked about Malone signing UT papers that this recruitment was going to become a circus and it sounds like I was right. Silly season is beginning, buckle up!

It's all good Ron no blame goes to you if Malone goes somewhere else :p. if FSU really kind of put him on the back burner that's stupid. I don't know if that has anything to do with the Winston situation or not but that can only be good news for us.

As far as Clemson goes, Malone seeing Boyd go has to be a factor. I mean if Boyd were coming back as a senior then I would say we would be in big trouble. But who is going o be under center for Clemson next season? Is it going o be Watson? I mean he would be a true freshman and is no guarantee to be a superstar.

Just texted the person who is in contact with him on his visit. Person said, "he loved Clemson. Told me multiple times while he was there that he loves Clemson. Then again he says that every visit." That is what their text said. I asked if his mind was made up before this visit and the person responded, "He definitely said he had his decision. He didn't say he changed his mind."

Hopefully the Clemson hype wears off just like it did with UGA and FSU and Butch and Thigpen sleep in the Malone guest room until he announces next week. I won't count out those two on the recruiting trail until they give me a reason to, especially for an instate kid.

Let's not forget distance is a factor with Malone, his family is very close and UT would make the most sense. Clearly our on field performance hasn't helped the last month. Let's be honest, if we don't land Malone that's very likely to be the reason why.

Come on Butch and Thig, make it happen!

To clarify my last post the person means he told him/her he had made his decision already and since the visit hasn't said otherwise. Sorry for confusion.

Made his decision before the Clemson visit?

Yes. He plainly told the person I am close with his decision was made a few weeks ago. When I was with him last week I asked if Dec. 4th is the day no matter what, and he said yea. I then asked him if he was nervous and he responded, "not really, if anything just a little." He didn't sound like he was trying to figure it out still. That is my opinion.

He has a buddy at school that he is close with and he told him as well his decision was made.

This is going to be a long week and a half!! Appreciate all the info you guys are sharing and nobody is claiming to have the goods on Malone so there should be no harm in speculating. Im hoping Buck is just trying to make it exciting, but I guess we will find out.

Thats what I think as well, Clemson maybe a factor but in the end I think Butch and Thig make it happen.

If decision was made before the Clemson visit.... then I think that bodes well for us

This. Can't be stated enough. Whether he heads to the Hill or not, this kid has done it right and has been concerned about that.

Josh has been mentored by the very best in the business-Brent Alexander.

Brent graduated from college with w degree in mathematics, played 12 seasons in the NFL as a safety and 28 career interceptions.

Brent has worked to mentor Josh on his grades, what he wants to d after his college career and professional football days are over, how he will accomplish that, how to handle the various coverages and defensive back techniques, what to look for in a college team and university before choosing your school.

Josh followed Brent's advice to the tee.

Brent is his personal coach and mentor. He played at Gallatin High School, where Cordelle went to. He also coached Josh at Station Camp during his sophomore year in high school. Brent has been the DC at JP2 in Hendersonville for Jerry Joslin the past two seasons.

Bent's son, Corey, was a walk on DB for the Vols until he graduated last spring.
