Its time for me to get one. Not a hunter and not big on guns. Only have shot an m-16 in military science at UT. Not against guns and don't care if people have them or not. I just wasn't around them growing up so I have zero comfort or knowledge. I'm going to get trained and think I'll enjoy going to the range prior to popping a cap in someone's ass who wants to get near my front door.
I saw on the news where tn sold a hell of a lot of guns last year. If every one of you is going to have one, damn skrait I better have one as well.
If you were to roll up on Sparty and get capped, what gun would you like to go out from? I don't know prices. Don't even know if guns are $75 or $7500. No clue.
I'll hang up and listen.

For home defense? If so, I recommend a lower end shotgun. Don't be fooled into dropping $1,500 on something you don't need and wont use regularly.

For home and to go to range when bored. And for glove compartment on road trips maybe. Don't want to be Kirk Douglas, have a flat and end up in a bad situation.

Get a Remington 870 for home and a glock for da range. You can get both for 600 or 700 together

Just give me some model names, pics, prices or something. I need to be able to get it out and fire it off quickly.

That man knows what I'm talkin about. Why not just one? I don't want to go Antonio Banderas off the bat.

You really need a shotgun for home defense.
Bird shot can't miss a intruder for a rookie. The hand gun aka a glock or 9mm can be fun for the range

Sparty. I just went through this. I took the Handgun Carry Permit at the Nashville Armory near 100 Oaks. It's an 8 hour class that costs $95.00. You do about 6 hours of classroom and the rest is shooting in the range. After you pass, you go to the DMV and pay $115 and then get fingerprinted at a different location. I got my permit 11 days after I was printed. I also just picked up a nice Glock from Nashville Armory, a few days before my class. It was about 3 years old and I got it for just over $400.00. Its a nice one stop shop. Very friendly people in there and they have tons of different types of guns.

This is what I've had for home for about 25 years or so. I put the pistol grip on with the 18 1/2" barrel and it's always ready. Point and shoot. I don't even know where the long barrel is.
Mossberg Model 500 12GA "3 In 1" Home Defense Set W/2 Barrels & Pistol Grip Kit - Impact Guns

Carry or car, you only need a good 9mm. Lots of opinions on what's good or best. I like the Sig Sauer P229. It will cost a lot even used. Fortunately, I got a great deal on mine new. Or, another I have for that purpose is a Smith and Wesson 5906. It's a good piece with high capacity mags and you might find one used for around $350-$400.

For in the house I agree with Sly. It is hard to beat a Moss 500. My everyday carry gun is a Springfield XD9. It is too big to comfortably carry and is difficult to conceal. They make a smaller version that I am in the market for. The XD series is like a super Glock (durable and reliable as hell) with a slightly lower price tag.

Im going to have to go shopping soon. Always wanted to say, "oozie 9 millameata" to a gun dealer.
I don't know what all your numbers mean. Horsepower? Whitepower? No freaking idea. I'm just going to find one that looks badass and get it.

Heed my advice and SDV's got to local places. Buy the Remington or Mossberg for home defense. But look around for a good hand gun used. Just make sure it's legit. Don't tell them you don't know sh!t.
