I think we will play hard both games...I think he will have them emotionally invested...but let's say Dobbs goes in the crapper and throws three picks. We aren't likely recovering from that.

That's just an excuse. UK beat a Dooley coached team with a WR playing QB. If Dobbs goes down, put Pig at QB and run it every damn play.

I agree but Dooly's first year the players didn't lay down at the end of the season and that was a good Kentucky team we beat that year. Why because they were Kiffin's and Fulmer's players mostly. I believe the problem was Dooly didn't develop or coach up the players very well at all. So, far I believe Jones is doing a better job at that.

The key to the Vandy game is turnovers. If we limit them to < 2 we win IMO. 2 or more we could be in trouble. Our defense is good against these types of offenses, an average QB that isn't mobile and one good WR that Sutton can cover. We will be able to run the ball effectively.

Do you guys really think Vandy has more talent than all of the teams they've beaten this year or did they win some of those games because their coaching staff gets the most out of them?

I think Vandy beat UGA and UF at those two teams lowest point of the season...nothing more...nothing less.

We are average. We played a crazy schedule and came up big in two games. Flip the Florida dates for vandy and us and we best Florida too. Vandy has played both teams at their lowest point of the season with crazy injuries. We didn't have that luxury.

Do you not remember Tyler Murphy doing whatever the hell he wanted to do vs us? Lol ok

haha...that's not an excuse...it is making a clear point. Regardless of how good our coaches are...we are not talented enough to overcome a lot of mistakes by the PLAYERS.

Yeah. I also remember they had 2 more OL than the vandy game. I also remember Tyler Murphy being film-less. I also remember the Nathan peterman circus. I also remember their defensive core still being in tact.

This is why as bad as I hate to say it we need a Randy Sanders offense game plan. 1st down run, 2nd down run, 3rd down short pass or scream pass. Our offense can run the ball up and down the field on both these teams. Similar to what Auburn did to us.

Losing to Vandy in Neyland next weekend is unacceptable. You guys can spin it anyway you want. No injury, weather delay, or any other excuse will matter if UT loses to Vandy. That's a loser mentality that Butch is trying to get rid of, some of you are still carrying around that Dooley mentality. Vandy is not better than UT, they don't have better coaches or players and the game is being played on our field in front of our fans. Losing is unacceptable. Period.

I have never said they were better. I said same talent. They have been in a system for 3 straight years, wh have been in 3 systems in that time span. It will be unacceptable, but to say Vandy is a bad team just isn't true

This is what you said when people were telling you this was a 5-6 win roster.

I agree it is never acceptable to lose to Vandy at home after coming off a bye week and healthy. Franklin does have his players believing but we have bye week, bad taste in our mouth from last year, a team that is hungry to finally win another game, and last the Vols have a bowl game to play for.

Am I the only fan left that's actually optimistic about our chances of beating vandy and the mildcats?

Nope. I'm not really worried about either of them. We've had probably the toughest stretch of games than anybody these last 8 and the last 3 it started to show. This bye week comes at a better time than the first one we had and it's not close, imo.

The bye week to regroup and refocus on our goal of getting to a bowl is huge. The fact that Butch is 9-1 after a bye week and we're in Neyland on senior night is just as big, imo. If Dooley was still the coach I wouldn't feel nearly as confident, but he isn't. This team has a different mindset.

After hearing some of these senior's comments about how bad they want to get to a bowl game for Butch so they can leave UT saying they laid the foundation, the bye week to regroup and refocus, playing at night in Neyland on senior night (which will be rocking!), and having a coach/staff that these players would run through a brick wall for makes me believe we get these two wins led by the seniors. Don't think our players will forget how much trash vu was talking after last years game either. Also, don't think Butch & Co have forgot about douche Franklin saying this was their state now after beating a UT team that was beat before kickoff last year.

I'm seriously not worried. I wouldn't be surprised if we came out and played our best two complete games to finish the season. No, we may not have a huge talent or experience edge, but these last two will come down to who wants it more and my money is on Butch and this senior class who haven't been to a bowl game since their Fr year.

No dang way vandy or uk will stop Team 117 from reaching their goal. No. Dang. Way. I can understand those fans that are worried but Dooley is gone. We've got a real coach leading this team into battle and they wont be denied. Write it down, take a picture, I don't give a ****. We're going bowling.

The vols will win big this week don't sweat it guys. Next week will be the more iffy game on the road. Kentucky will be having Senor day probably and playing to spoil our chance for a bowl

As I have already stated. I think we will win. I do not have a loser mentality...I genuinely believe we are the better team.

In no way will losing against either team be perceived as anything but absolutely negative (regardless of how the loss happens).

However, my "optimism/pessimism" has absolutely nothing to do with the outcome of this game...nor does it have anything to do with the loser/winner mentality of these players.

The fans will be there...we will be loud and proud. I'm just naive enough to completely throw Butch under the bus if the game is lost on player mistakes. Nor have I seen enough evidence this year to give me complete confidence that the players will execute as needed.

If the game plan is bad...if the team comes out flat...if poor decisions are made from the sideline...then sure...put it on the coaches.

I think we will win...I believe we will win. But my thinking/belief have nothing to do with the outcome.
