I was a Bree's supporter in that debacle but I did not blame Miami for taking Culpepper. Injury looked more promising for a QB. Unfortunately, I bet some friends that it would be Bree's and if not I'd take Culpepper in the first round of the draft. As you can imagine that was not my best season.

He was not all world in San Diego, nothing close to what he's developed into now. Looking at the two it's certainly reasonable to assume culpepper would be more durable in the nfl. But talent Evals are a crapshoot so.....

Back then taking a 6 footer at qb was considered a low percentage play

I seriously doubt we will ever have a run that tops what we did through the 90's. Matching that will be tough enough.

I went to Fenway for Peavys first start earlier this year. That place is magical. Fenway franks are kinda garbage but the rest was incredible. Was there on business and had a weekend to spare. Absolutely tremendous.

Ingraham and Richardson look like the beneficiaries of an all world offensive line in college. Must be culture shock making it to the nfl and all of a sudden defensive players are in the backfield

Doing that RIGHT now. 13-month-old future Vol All-American Mike Linebacker in my lap looking at me with his first cold and I can't do a damn thing about it but rock him. Somehow it's a perfect moment.

I always thought Richardson was a stiff. Ingram struggling surprises me though. He looked like a Emmitt clone to me. It is hard to say though, the only running back I ever saw look great behind a crappy line was Barry Sanders. If that dude had played with Dallas's OL his numbers would have been beyond imagining.

I will forever be thankful that my football prime (high school and college in particular) was spent cheering on the Big Orange during that time, but let's be honest, we prolly had the rosters at that time to double the SEC championships we had (or more) and win another Natty or two.

If we produce a stretch of recruiting results now like we did then, with stronger in game strategies, I see no reason our beloved Vols can not outdo what was done in the '90s.

Time to :popcorn: and later we can :toast:

Went to Pigeon Forge earlier in the week and was waiting to be seated at a restaurant (wearing my "T" cap) when an older man (this guy was most likely in his lower 80's since I'm in my mid-60's) walked up to me and commented about his school colors versus my school colors and I commented back about how ugly his were. He then told me that he had been a "Bamer" fan all his life but all his children and now his grandchildren had all gone to or were going to Auburn. He couldn't understand what he had done wrong. I laughed at him and told him AU was a better school. I told him to get ready that the Vols were coming back and we would be on top again soon. He walked away. I thought it was comical because he used the "Bamer" word 3 or 4 times.

They are not offended and have embraced the term,"Bamers". The "barn" dictionary has replaced "Bamer" with "updyke" and "cousin grinder".

I love what Butch has done so far. He's exceeded expectations the first year in recruiting. He's well on his way, at least in my mind to exceeding expectations the first year in coaching. The last two games have proven that.

Having said that there is alot, and I mean alot that has to go in to getting back to having a run like we had in the 90's. The strength of the East will play a huge role, adding another conference game will be tough, how long does Saban stay at bama, etc.

Not saying it can't be done, but Butch will have to turn out to be the second coming of Saban for us to get back to that point, IMO and its too early to tell. I think he's a good coach, but time will tell if he's a great coach and can get us back to elite status.

Everything is looking good so far. ..but as I have learned in the past, things can change quickly.
