Will Saulsberry be good to go Saturday?

"I think he will be available to play on Saturday. His role was in the 3rd down package and I think that's where you might see him return. They are getting good results with the package that has Smith and Vereen at the DE's with Miller and Walls inside at DT."

Man I wish this was a home game this year!

Actually I thought the same thing, but Bama's last three losses came at home. Losses at home: Auburn 2010, LSU 2011 and A&M 2012. Saban does not lose on the road because the team has no distractions and is all business. If this team is determined to win I believe it can happen!

Can Quinn redshirt?

"He can't redshirt. He only has two years to play to years. He played two years of collegiate volleyball and a year of juco football (three years of athletics).

The challenge with him and has always been how physical can he be. He has the athleticism, but hasn't been able to put it together."

Tennessee 2013 will be a nice addition to that list

Not a fan of this red team strategy by CBJ. I see no reason to motivate the other side.

Anybody remember how a similar tactic was perceived by our fanbase for Jerry Dinardo at vandy??

Completely off topic but watching James Winston in his presser today is so refreshing. That kid is extremely comfortable in his own skin.

From a poster on VQ...he's also a former Vol, not sure of his name but it's been posted before. Anyway, his take on "red team" from Butch...

"Red Team"

I just finished reading the article about how coach Jones is having the guys yell "red team" at practice when talking about Alabama. As a former pro athlete, I think this is brilliant. He is taking the mystique of their ranking, past accomplishments, etc and stripping that from our guys mentality of what they will face on Saturday. My point is this, by shouting it out in unison during practice over and over, as it may seem somewhat awkward and silly, he is mentally training their minds to prepare to face just another team and not the mighty Alabama. In preperation the first hurdle is controlling the mind then comes the practice and repetition, this is with everything in life. They may not win as they are undermanned as we all know but my bet is they will compete for all 4 quarters and keep it closer than most think. Coach Jones gets it, he is the most detailed out of the box coach I have seen in college football in a long time. Obvisously we do not get to see every little thing that goes on with every program to motivate and prepare players but seeing the results and reading about his approach is refreshing and will definitely get us to the top. I have seen it when I played for the good Coaches and I have seen the other bad when I played for coaches "ala Dooley like". I truly believe we have a winner in this guy. Go Vols

Very well spoken college player. Should be a great leader on the field. Can't wait to see him play in the NFL.

I agree!

On the flip side....not a fan of the Pedro Martinez's "the Yankees are my daddy" approach either.

It's like he is in a room with 10 teammates just shooting the bull.

First time I have seen him In a presser. I couldn't be impressed more

I think the idea behind it isn't to show disrespect towards Alabama but more just to take the focus off "Alabama" and all the emotions that might come with their name. Just allow the team to prepare like they would be any other week in the season and not get so worked up about the fact that it's Alabama week.

I am sure that's what CBJs is trying to do but IMO it also is bulletin board motivation for Bama. If it wasn't public I would like the approach

Same here, and he's only 19 years old! Very unselfish too, kept talking about how great his teammates are. BTW, he was a 5 * QB recruit.

Not sure how that is bulletin board material "Hey guys they are calling us the Red team...they think we are commies." Let's get em.

Not sure Bama needs any motivation other than we are another team in their way to a 3rd straight National Championship. If Saban needs to use something like this to get his team motivated....
