Recruiting Forum: Football Talk VIII

And it keeps the crazies in the Tennessee fan base at bay (for a time), which is equally important. I'm tired of the negativity and "fire the coach (or assistant coaches)" mentality. Ready to watch a winning team and not have to listen to that for a few years.

There were several posters in the official game thread calling the game over when it was 17-14. I mean, UT had a three point lead, and they were saying it was inevitable. When it went to 17-21, even more chimed in. They did get taken to task at the time and especially after the game. Even Freak chimed in.

@wesrucker247: Butch: We anticipate Fr WR Josh Smith back in the Alabama game. He missed SoCar game with hammy pull.

Wouldn't have put money on that in August. They should be on CBS though. Just like Tennessee vs Bama should be. It's a tremendous game regardless of the records or players.

Oh, I have no doubt they'll still go at it like rabid, um, dogs.

There will still be a lot of talent on that field.

And I have no doubt there are and will be a lot of disgruntled fans between Athens and Gainesville. The loser of that game will really be feeling it.

I don't blame some of those posters as we have seen this group of Juniors and Seniors fold in the 4th quarter many times. Having blind optimism (not saying you have) also deserves criticism.

When SC took the lead, I though we were finished too. All of us are starting to have a new belief after that game.

If you guys get a chance to check out the first hour of the Tony Basilio show today you should do it! Best hour of radio I may have ever heard. Started by talking to the guy that contacted Tony Robinson to come home. You can hear in his archives.

I almost forgot how good it felt to get a meaningful win. Better times are ahead...

No doubt it is a defining play. Very well put calling it a program changing play

I think we'll look back in a few years and agree that it was the moment that the "sleeping giant" awakened. I don't know how the rest of the season will go but I've consistently stated that Mizzou and AU would be the swing games...if we split, CBJ really ought to garner serious consideration for SEC COY.

That's a valid point and one used in their defense at the time. It certainly points to everything this team and the fan base has been through in the last several years.

I'll take a blind optimist over a blind pessimist, but I get your point.

@wesrucker247: Vols' Justin Worley: "We hate Alabama just like they hate us. But obviously they've had the upper-hand the past few years."

Debatable whether this is recruiting related, but i thought it was worthy of putting here.

I said from my start on Volnation, that we share two huge things every year, beating Bama and the dawgs.

I was walking out of Neyland Stadium on air after the 85 game against Auburn when a Tiger fan who I know must have been really upset looked at me and said.."I don't care what else happens PLEASE just beat Bama."

USCe -5 at mizzu.

Shocked at that

So vegas only sees mizzu as 2pts better than us. Interesting

Amen to that AU fan. I would bet that 99.9999% of AU fans will be rooting for the Vols this weekend.

Did anyone ever hear if any of our EE's went ahead and signed after that new rule that came out last week? I'm not caught up on all their threads so just wondering.
