If you looking strictly at the passing game I agree. Right now I think Croom's run blocking is buying him playing time, especially with how run heavy we've been.

North got props on the radio call for a block today as well.

I can certainly agree with this. That's why I originally asked if he was doing enough of the other things!

Ready to see how Sutton progresses throughout the season. Watched the game over and UT finally looks a bit athletic on defense. AJ is still looking like a tackler but not a hitter at LB. He's a liability in the passing game too. Need to get JRM more reps as a nickel backer. Want him and Sapp in on 3rd and long,

This.

Dude is basically a TE when it comes time to block somebody.

I think Croom is underutilized as a WR, today's drop notwithstanding. I don't think a 6'5" guy has to be wide open to get the ball, you just have to put the ball in the right place to take advantage of his size. I hate to pile on, but I just don't think Worley can do that right now.

If Bray were still here, Croom and North would both be getting more looks. They just might be bombs on 3rd and 1.

Right now I would definitely put Carter and Smith ahead of him from a purely pass catching standpoint. I really like Croom's potential though. I think he'll put it all together sooner or later and be a good one.

It seems like his timing is down with Croom. They will start connecting soon. Worley may have gotten the urge to try and force in the red zone out of him today as well. "Absolutely" is awfully certain. The passing game looks better with that TD. I do understand that folks are accustomed to seeing more in the passing game.

Edit: the stat line in the passing game 11-19-1 for 142 yds, 1 TD and a 7.5 ypc.

I meant I absolutely would not be saying JW was fine if he'd connected with Croom.

Even my amateur eye noticed he wasn't good in the passing game. Sapp looked like our best LB today IMO. Can't wait for Maggitt to be 100%

I've been really happy with how Swafford's played so far too. The young guys have upped our athleticism for sure.

@Volquest_Paul: RT @ESPNStatsInfo: BYU has passed 480 yards rushing This is the most rush yards in BYU history And the most rush yards allowed in Texas history

And still in third qrtr I think

That's how I took it. Worley's development will be interesting to track. Your concerns may be justified. I am looking for him to continue to improve.

BYU is straight up embarrassing Texas. Fun game to watch unless you're a Texas fan.

Honestly I don't think the Ducks are going to blow us out. I believe we're going to ball with them. Offensively I say Butch opens up the Playbook. If we can manhandles that defense its going to be interesting.

Here's to hoping you're right but...did you see Mariota today? He's almost as fast as Deanthony Thomas, and he plays QB. He's this year's RG3, IMO...and our D still lacks overall speed. Not. Good.

Their D isn't great though, but neither is our offense.

It could be a reverse of this week's score. We might hang with them but I think they eventually impose their will on us in the second half.

Yeah, it seemed that Petrino was really trying to pick on AJ with those 5 wide pass plays to the slot. I love AJ, but we are at our best if he is not in the game in certain pass situations.

I did notice a few snaps late on 3rd and long with 3 DL, Sapp and Brewer at LB, and 6 DBs with Swafford and Toney in the game.
