Is Elam out?

Elam is still a possibility as are guys like Garrett, A. Jackson and others. And plenty of other names out there that we haven't heard of yet will likely jump into the mix this fall/winter. Those 7 I listed seem most likely as of today but it's unlikely it actually plays out that way in the end.

Another way to look at it is that we lead for Barnett, Mosley and Hendrix, all will eventually be Vols. Mosley and Barnett likely announce very soon, Mosley in 4 days on his birthday.

The staff passed on Williams, Humphreys and Ford because Lambert, Mosley and Barnett are going to be Vols.

I have seen nothing to suggest we lead for Barnett. The other 2 we certainly do lead for according to reports

Nothing to suggest we lead for Barnett? Haha ok. There might not be a quote from Barnett saying, "UT LEADS!" But there is plenty out there to suggest UT leads.

From somebody other than a dad of a kid on his team??

Unless I have missed something in the past few weeks all the tn leads stuff ended weeks ago when we thought a commitment was imminent.

All I have seen lately has been it will be after the season before he decides. Isn't he quoted as saying just that??

I'm not going to get sucked into an argument with you, Bruin. I think there is plenty out there to suggest UT leads for Barnett, you don't. Agree to disagree. :hi:

The seven Vols preseason All-SEC selections ranks fourth in the conference behind Alabama, Georgia and LSU.

It's tempting to be more optimistic about this season than I am, based on the accolades certain of our players are getting, but most of our elite talent is concentrated in one position group. Will be interesting to see how far an elite OL can take a team that is basically average and/or inexperienced almost everywhere else.

This was from 5 days ago on VQ...

"I'm just not 100 percent sure. When I commit I'm going to be 100 percent committed. I'm not going to change my decision so right now I'm not ready to make my decision. I want to enjoy it right now," Barnett said. "I think I would make it after the season, but honestly, it could be in a couple of weeks or in a month, just whenever I feel like it's the right time I'm going to do it.".

You think he'll wait until the end of the season, I think he commits soon. JMO

Final 7:

Berry
Berry
Barnett
Mosley
Hendrix
Malone
Blair or another OL

Ron, I really respect your opinion. I have a question for you. Do you think that the Berry's are looked down at because they are on the same team and take away touches from each other? Or is it from growing up as Eric's little brothers? Or are they just less talented and the rating is correct?

Thanks

Definitely best case scenario, but very realistic, also.

Not that it matters, but that would put us firmly in the Top 5.

Maybe top 5. Rivals changed their formula last year so we only have one year to reference. Of the guys listed only Evan Berry, Blair, Malone, Hendrix, & Barnett would add to our score. We have 2311 right now and the net add for those 5 is 254 (assuming my math is correct) putting us at 2565. #7 last year was 2496 and #6 was 2641. We could get top 5 but I'm not sure it's a complete given at the moment. As long as we hold on to what we've got and close as suggested it's an incredible success wherever it ends up.

Based on last years results, if nobody else gets a bump we will need five more 4 stars in addittion to what we already have. I am comparing this to Michigan's #5 class last year, and they had one 5 star and sixteen 4 stars. However, we do have some very good candidates for bumps, so that may not matter in the end.

In a game that is won upfront, and we have elite talent upfront, why is everyone so gloomy about our prospects for having a decent/good season? I understand we are inexperienced in a few places, but we have the bigs to do some damage. I think a few of the "realists" might be pleasantly surprised at the end of the season.

I think the Berry's are both very talented. Unfortunately for them they have a father and brother who were also very good FB players and played at UT. That can be tough on kids.

I think anyone that looks down on them because they might not be as talented as their older brother is an idiot. Evan and Elliott are plenty talented, have great genes, have been groomed to be Vols their entire life, have trained with their elite brother over the years and will make us all proud as Vol fans. JMO

Don't forget, it's not like these kids are 2 stars, they're both high 3's/4 stars and likely would be ranked even higher if they chose to participate in camps.

Are they less talented than Eric Berry? Probably. But almost all FB players are less talented than Eric Berry.

Personally, I can't wait to see them in Orange!

The list of tax benefits for building a new house are not that extensive. With all your cash I guess you won't be financing it, so no interest or MIP deductions. And if you are going to sell your current home, you may have to pay taxes on your capital gain. If you'll let us know who your FA is, we'll be sure to steer clear of him/her.

Hahahahahaha
