Fergy is the QB of the future IMO, and I don't see the downside of starting him week 1. If there was a legitimate argument, I could see it otherwise. The one decent argument is a frosh won't be ready for Oregon, so we need Worley to start until then

The other side of that angle is the 1st two games are huge in getting a young QB comfortable. If we are going that route and know it IMO we should go from beginning

That's my basis for wanting Ferg to start. He needs that experience if he's going to play at any point in the year.

IMO we have a great running game so maybe we can be the exception but odds are I am right.
If we played those 3 games early, I could understand, but those games are late in the year. If Fergs does start he would have already got experience against Oregon in Eugene, against UF in the Swamp, etc. if Fergs is equal or close to with Worley, I don't think he loses us a game late in the year Worley would not and IMHO they are about equal, but Workey doesn't fit the scheme.

As I stated in another thread, I think it's a mental thing right now. IMO whoever is more mentally ready will get the nod. I don't think physically Worley has more upside, nor do I think he fits the system best....I just think he's probably been a bit more cerebral, which could be expected. That could change, it could change before game one in favor of any of the others. I do think once it clicks mentally with either Nate, Dobbs, or Ferg., it would allow us to open it up a bit more.

Again, this is just opinion not fact. I just think the more mentally developed guy will probably get the nod.

Edit: I rambled the same thing again and again in this post lol...my bad

the downside of starting a freshman too early is the sheer number of mistakes he will make can do irreparable harm to his confidence and that will spread like a cancer across the team. one thing that dooley did right was allowing bray to sit and watch until the 2nd half of south carolina.

I hope this isn't the route we take but I completely respect your opinion here. You may be spot on

Yeah I may be completely off, but I never really thought Worley was a great prospect. I just go and form my opinions and stick to them until the wheels fall off.

I get what you're saying, but I still wouldn't count Peterman as upper class. He spent last year as a redshirt learning a system we no longer use. IMO Peterman, Dobbs and Ferguson were all on a level playing field.

I agree ... just sometimes my old mind forgets :)

I heard Majors on Hooker's show....I think it was Friday. He was saying something similar. He had me fired up.

I like what Majors is saying and have always respected his opinion ..... however he said the same things about Kiff , I would say he likes any coach at Tennessee not named Fulmer, but he didn't say those things about Dooley :)

I actually think Kiffin's a decent coach. He's just a gonorrhea laced douche nozzle. Jmo

I think Vic Warton will play corner when he comes in. Our depth there is bad. I think Payne is more nickel and we need to sign one more corner.

I actually went back and looked at some Dooley pressers from this exact same time last year. I always thought of him a pretty smart guy, but man, the guy looked clueless...had no direction to speak of. Maybe it's just me, but good gosh the difference in listening to him and Butch is night and day.

Dooley was certainly clueless from recruiting to gameday
