Insider notes ... Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia fill final spots in 2014 class Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia fill final spots in 2014 class … via @247Sports

full? i cant read the post but they cant be full can they

Some tidbits

There is no set number in place, but with 16 commitments, Ohio State is very close to being full for the 2014 class. Expect the Buckeyes to be very selective with their remaining spots. Like Alabama, they are in best prospect available mode with them only having 8 spots left.

Didn't give any # for UGA or OSU

Been out of the loop for a while could someone give me a reader's digest version of where we stand as far as talent in the upcoming class or link me to a thread that does? If anyone wants to speak to what areas the current class is specifically strong in or weak in position wise that would be great as well.

Love the information but combing through 100s of individual recruit threads is painful at work. Thanks guys.

We are looking really good and should close the class with the Berry twins (one plays DB, the other LB) and at least 4 DL. Class will likely be top 5.

Thanks.

Any concern over not having a QB in this incoming class? Any other areas of concern or are we pretty well solid everywhere else?

Thanks.

We didn't land a top QB but the thinking seems to be that because we landed Dobbs and Ferguson last class, we're okay. Should be able to land a top QB in '15 class.

Pretty solid everwhere else other than we really need a top JUCO OT.

You have missed the most exciting offseason recruiting stretch in a long long time, my friend.

Yeah, I've heard from friends and people that follow it casually that it was a great year but I've been too busy to obsess over recruiting like I usually do.

This work crap will have to take a break once the season starts and then up till EEs and NSD.

Here is a simple breakdown:

Needs for the 2014 class (in order):

(Tier 1)
RB
LB
DT
OL (Primarily OT)
CB

(Tier 2)
WR
TE
S
DE
K

(Tier 3)
QB

2014 Class

RB: Jalen Hurd 5*, Treyvon Paulk 3*

Hurd is a 6'3" 230 beast with speed and Paulk is a 5'8" bowling ball with great vision, power, and wiggle. Not great speed, probably finish as a 4*. Finished at RB

LB: OLB: Chris Weatherd 4* (JUCO), Dillon Bates 4*, Gavin Bryant 4* MLB: Kevin Mouhon 4*

Weatherd and Bates are tall fast great athletes. Bryant is very well-rounded, but with grade issues. Mouhon is a pure MLB but better speed than a guy like AJ Johnson. Finished unless we can pull 5* Clifton Garrett (LSU leads).

DT: So far no commitments

Being very selective. In good shape with NG Charles Mosley 4* and athletic DT Derek Barnett 4*. JUCO Lambert 4*is someone who may commit in 2 weeks.

OL: OT Orlando Brown 3*, OG/OT Ray Raulerson 3*, OT/C Coleman Thomas 3*

Raulerson and Thomas are very long and athletic for interior OL, Brown is massinve (6'8" 340), but losing weight to be a better player. JUCO LT Dontavius Blair is a huge target that we are fighting Auburn for, with a few HS OT options if that doesn't pan out (Bookser, Ruble, Kelleher)

CB: 4* D'Andre Payne, 4* Rashaan Gaulden

Payne is great in coverage, but only 5'9". Gaulden is viewed by most as a FS with great coverage skills, but recruited to UT as a CB. 4* Evan Berry is a future Vol who has good size and great speed, but very raw. We have a shot at 5* Adoree Jackson and in the top group for 4* Chris Lammons and 4* DJ Smith. We would take one of these, but if we miss we won't reach on anyone else.

WR: 4* Eric Lauderdale (JUCO), 4* Dominique Booth, 3* Kameel Jackson (JUCO), 4* Vic Wharton (slot), 3* Brandon Powell (slot)

Lauderdale is a speed guy, Jackson is a versatile WR that played good minutes at OU as a freshman before leaving and eventually ending up in JUCO. Booth is a possession WR with some speed issues. Wharton and Powell are small slot guys, Powell with the better speed. We would still take 4* Josh Malone if he wants to come.

TE: 4* Daniel Helm, 3* Ethan Wolf

Helm is a pass-catching TE with good height. May be the best receiving TE in this class. Wolf is more of a traditional TE that will be in the 6'6" 260 range at some point.

S: 4* Todd Kelly Jr 4* Cortez McDowell

Both are big guys that are athletic enough to play FS as well. Finished at Safety

DE: 4* Joe Henderson

Henderson is a pure pass rusher who needs to bulk up some. We lead for 4* SDE Dewayne Hendrix who would finish out the DE recruiting if he commits. 4* Andrew Williams is an option if Hendrix doesn't pan out. We will take 1 SDE.

K: 3* Aaron Medley

Perhaps the top kicker in the country.

QB: No commitment

We won't take a commitment unless someone we really like comes out of nowhere

**Neiko Creamer is a 6'3" 230 lb. Athlete that would end up at WR, TE, DE, or LB.

Weighing in on the TEMPERED EXPECTATIONS, and concerns from both Vol fans and rivals that if we lose a to be determined threshold of games, we'll be elbowing for position to jump off the most effective bridge....I ask this. Before last season, as in previous seasons, I felt confident and excited...this was the season that Dooley puts it together. Healthy explosive offense and solid defense with a firebrand hungry DC,who was indoctrinated in that Saban machine....HOW COULD WE LOSE?....wellwedid...and...often. Point? By midseason, it was obvious that our Vols were going nowhere. Our coach was surely gone and no way in Hades was recruiting going to be a diversion while other teams bowled...our previous respite...and somehow, through the pain, WE KEPT GOING...cuz it's football...a game we love and cultivate in our lives...LIVES! We have those things and we keep doing that life thing....even and especially when our favorite team blows. The majority of Vol fans backed Dooley until the middle of last season...when he FINALLY convinced us that his plan didn't hold water...orange Kool-Aid drinkers that call for the coaches head after a few losses?...How does that jibe with this fan base...WHO fought off strokes and general heart palpitations with the the LSU travesty and Music City BLOW that first year?...these guys. Who saw our team consistently quit or tire after halftime almost every game, and then lose to one of the worst Kentucky teams in history...WITH A FREAKING WR AT QB...theseguys. Who went right back into the stink last year, with a team that mostly quit BEFORE HALFTIME, and endured probably the WORST coaching display in our storied history?....theseguys. So, in summary, don't tell us to sit on our hands and not get excited at this energy that Butch has brought into our program because we can't handle results...let the results happen...we're awesome handling them...who do you NOT need to worry about?....theseguys. GO VOLS...BRICK BY BRICK!

Chuma Edoga, 2015 OT target predicting 2013 record

Saw this posted in the tweets thread in the FF. Yikes! I hope other recruits have a more level headed set of expectations.

Why? As long as these kids see the process (which they obviously do way more than we do) and believe in butch, there's no reason to not be optomistic. I've talked to multiple players (mostly Jacques and Bmoore) and they truly believe they're going to win 9 games so this could be where he got the number. Jac is also deadset on 15 sacks. When asking Byron how many picks, he put up 8 fingers. I know these are dreams but if the team is ready and confident, there are no guaranteed L's. Not to mention that most of these recruits have reiterated how solid their commitments are. I'm ok with this

The font of the numbers is a little different. Not sure I like that part. But the numbers are big. Like that part.
