Barnett committing will go a long way in alleviating my concerns about the DL in the coming years. I think between him, Carr, O'Brien, etc., that we're going to finally have impact DTs--assuming McCullers and Couch do not show out this year--which we haven't had since Big Dan (just remember Demonte Bolden and Big Dan were side by side in 2007 and 2008 and they were pretty good even if Bolden never quite lived up to the hype). Add Humphreys and/or Lambert/Lamin and we've got some real DTs again. If we can get Hendrix and if two out of he, Henderson, and Vereen can live up to the hype, Vols could be menacing on DL again.

I did notice that Woodley kinda bounced around DL-LB in his career. But then had that breakout year finally. I don't think it's unreasonable to think he might actually coach one of our guys up to a good season. Jaq. Smith, Corey Miller, Marlon Walls, and Mo Couch we're all HIGHLY touted guys coming out. I think he's gonna get one last stand out of a couple of these dudes.

How bad a D would we have if he coached them all up to their potential?

He sent guys to the league from Michigan when Lloyd Carr was there. Butch got him after Carr got fired.

Carr wasn't fired. Finished his last season with a bowl win over Florida and a #18 ranking. Completely irrelevant, I know, but he was one of the best in the game.

There is a thread of truth in all the Lloyd Carr posts. He did lose to Appy State to start his final season. He had a Hall of Fame career including the national championship in 97. Michigan was unbanked heading to their bowl game in 2007 when he announced his retirement that November. They beat Florida with Tebow and Urban to propel them into the rankings. Familiar ending to a coaching career that included great success.

It's like we grabbed Fulmers best Dline coach. Carr is worth being talked about like Phil is.

Sending positive vibes to Barnett to help him to pull the trigger. :yikes:

All 5 of vandy's fans may "off" themselves. They think he is a vandy lock . That's what happens when you live in your little private shell. You get passed by without seeing it coming

If Barnett commits, UT will have 3 of the top 5 recruits in TN committed (which includes Alex Bar, who was always going to either Michigan or ND, and Josh Malone).

Wow.

With Barnett being 270ish already do you think you will stay at DE or do you think he can move inside to be a DT in college?
