IRS admits to targeting Conservative groups

If you can link to his testimony, I'll read it.

But the websites you are putting up here are well known conservative hackery, often lie and omit or bastradize the facts, so I'm not clicking on those out of principle.

c'mon, bham. Lg says this is a ginned up, phony baloney, issue. Actually, it is a non issue. This pseudo- scandal only exists in the racist, homophobic, bigoted, angry, right wing, extremist, gun nut, white male demographic because our president is black.

Get with the program, bro.

i am not angry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could you imagine having todays access during Nixon's years. The press would have eaten him alive, they give Obama a pass.

IMHO, LBJ = Obama in terms of corrupt. Two worst in the last 100 years.

I would have liked to have had it during the JFK years.....Oh Marilyn!!!!

100+ visits to the WH and Obama never knew? Either he's completely incompetent (an option not yet discarded), is lying (still possible) or has given the power to make decisions like that to someone else (most likely).

Given statement 3, it makes #1 a fact, and #2 plausibly deniable. It of course means that he knew to begin with something hinky was going on so by any definition of the word, he was/is involved. In order to side step the crap every time you have to know what, when, and where the crap is every time.

Well, see, there's where you lose me.

I agree that its wrong to screen these groups based on their names. But then you just make the assumption that it is politically motivated.

The real problem, as we discussed about 10 pages ago itt, is that the exemption has been misused and abused over the past 50 years. Just dump the exemption altogether, imo. Problem solve.

This post is so full of fail in 3 short paragraphs:

1) Losing you is not difficult when you want to use it as a defense.
2) Screening these groups based on names associated with A political party that is in direct conflict with the current administration is political by definition.
3) You get this one from the Liberal hack talking points memo? You think that by approving tax exempt status for all these groups 3 years too late is going to make them go away?

LG would say that the phrase "Are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?" is a non-political statement.

http://news.cincinnati.com/article/...g-just-got-documents-about-progressive-groups

Mysteriously these documents show up out of thin air.

More from the article;

"In addition to George’s testimony, two IRS employees responsible for handling tax-exempt applications from tea party groups testified that those cases were handled in an unusual way with significant involvement from supervisors.

Elizabeth Hofacre, a specialist in the Cincinnati office, said lawyers in Washington controlled every step of the process.

“I was frustrated because of what I perceived as micromanagement with respect to these applications,” she told the Oversight Committee.

She said she became a “dumping ground” for tea party cases that she was never able to close as she awaited guidance from the IRS’ technical unit in Washington.

“It was like working in lost luggage,” she said. “I could never give (applicants) a clear answer.”

So the public was lied to from the beginning and the WH touted the same narrative.

What a joke.

They singled out both. It seems more to be targeted on conservatives because after the CU decision there was an explosion of such groups designed to hide political donations.

The situation will flip if there is ever another Republican in the WH. Democrats will claim that in their effort to take back control that they've been singled out for closer tax scrutiny, or some other punitive measure.

When the criteria in the law is "social change" or words to that effect, you just open the door both to actual abuse, and also to claims of abuse even where there isn't any.

Why should political or social organizations have tax exempt status in the first place? They shouldn't.

End the exemption. Problem solved.

If they can prove it then let'em rock!

End the exemption problem solved? We should take that same direction with welfare......

You are actually engaging in the worst argument you could possibly make. But go ahead. I'll ask. What evidence do you have that Obama or his campaign ordered the IRS to target conservative groups?

Just point me to the evidence.

Yeah...Scott Peterson said the same thing.....look where it got him.

Exactly!

And the evidence of the genesis is that it came from a staffer whose conservative Republican boss okayed it.

If you have any evidence that it came form the WH or the Obama campaign, by all means share it.
This is the exact stupidity that I told you to lay off of. The intent is to find the evidence because the smoke is unbelievably thick. Your idiocy about producing evidence at this point is the kind of crap that should be left to the WH.

Now you're just going off the deep end. This is nothing more than a fake scandal drummed up by those tea party loons.

This proves nothing.

Well, since LG took his ball and went home, I see you are keeping up the good work!!! Well done!

LG puts on a good show, but he is a closet racist. But he's fair about it. He hates white people too

Whatever happened to this?

There was supposed to be proof coming that the scrutiny of the TP groups was politically motivated and coordinated by the WH but then there never is any proof.

Whole thing kind of a let down, imo.
