Da Reds thread

Read that Ludwik is way ahead of schedule and could be back in a couple of weeks.

I have been down on them this year but way too early to count them out.

Mike. Leake.

I was in favor of a trade to rid the team of Leake early in the season. Now Leake is the ace. Guy has some serious Maddux things going on with his pitches and it is working very well. Nobody should underestimate the value of Price as pitching coach.

I already hard you there champ haha. Just kidding. But the Reds are a talented team and I damned sure haven't written them off.

Good post. Nah - no true Redhead will write them off yet - we are just disgusted with the wasting away of talent. It is so hard to assemble a big time roster and it leaves so fast with free agency that you hate to see it all squandered away. Hopefully, somebody will turn the lights on in their heads before the season slips away from them.

Maddux libel lawsuit in 5..4..

That could happen, lol. But Maddux' best years were from the age of 26 - 36. Leake is 25. He's not in that stratosphere yet, but with a little more development and confidence he could really be good. Maddux was simply outstanding for so long. Amazing career. Mainly just comparing style and ball movement/speeds to the great one. Leake is now learning how to be a real pitcher.

With the scrutiny that has developed over the strike zone with all of the computerized aids and umpiring training/standards, even Maddux would struggle more. Glavine for sure would never have amounted to anything. They both lived in the black with Glavine actually living quite a bit outside of it.

know people that have torn labrums before. i would be surprised if he does much at all this year.

Agree. Luddy turns 35 in a couple of days. Backside of his career already and has this serious injury. Anybody betting on him being the savior needs to rethink it a bit. Last year was abnormal production from the guy. I know he benefited from playing at GABP, however, it is hard to imagine him getting on a tear the last two months like he did last season when it had only happened one or two times in his whole career before the injury.

Take away 40 or so games for Ludwick last year and we basically had Cozart batting 4th for the other 120ish games.

Truth.

Watching this mess tonight? Joey getting his usual lovin' from the official scorer on that little league throw to Latos - changes the scoring from error to a hit. Throws the ball to nobody at third base and gets lucky with Cozart's back up. Phillips does his best Fred Astaire impression on the basepath for a silly out. Mez runs around in circles for a ball at his feet then throws it into the back of Upton after the third strike. And that is only 3 innings of fun. Can't wait to see what happens next!

I think we are seeing all we are going to see out of Homer Bailey. An occasional good to great game. Then a mediocre, then an awful game. Around a .500 pitcher IMO. Dude still has issues.
