'14 JUCO DT Davonte Lambert (Auburn Commit 12/18/13)

"Tennessee showed me everything and I really got a lot of love there," Lambert told Scout. "They treated me a little differently in a good way than when I visited Florida and Georgia. That has put them at the top of my list with Florida."

"I am really not thinking about any other schools right now. I like Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee, and I see myself at one of those schools."

"Right now I am thinking August or September," he said when asked about commitment timeline. "I may take an official visit to Georgia, but I may not. My officials to Florida and Tennessee are done and I saw a lot of great things at those schools. I just need to think about things for a little while."

This still bugs me, so I’m doing some original research.

From that Scout report it looks like it was UT & UF at the top. But he says he’s gonna take all five officials. So:

1. UF
2. UT
3. AU
4. ???
5. ???

He’s been to UGA unofficially, but Milledgeville is a stone’s throw away from campus. But you gotta figure one of those last two is going to be UGA. It just seems weird to me that UGA is who they are picking when they have never been #1 or #2.

Maybe I’m still on the recruiting high of Bates’ announcement, or maybe it’s the wafer-thin Team 118 depth chart, but I gotta love UT’s chances with this guy compared to pretty much any other SEC team. And it seems this guy wants to be in the SEC or bust.

UGA lead for Lambert for a while and led until he officially visited florida. UGA kept their official visit for a game in september, but he might come earlier than that depending on his timeline to commit. UGA received a commitment today from Kendall Baker and should get a commit this weekend or shortly thereafter from Gaillard. Shaw seems to be the next guy we might pick up so it will be interesting to see how Coach Wilson handles our numbers and if we add one more guy to our dline haul.

Baker, gaillard, shaw, and lambert? I'm thinking ill bet against that.

actually right now looks like it's baker, gaillard, shaw, and russell and then we are still pursuing lambert. baker may very well be moved to offensive line because he is a great offensive tackle prospect there, but he will get his first shot on the dline. it will be interesting to see how getting 4 dline guys committed affects our other dline prospects.

How many of these guys are actually committed? 1 or 2?

They lead for all except Shaw and its split on him. Lineman is our biggest need. Sawyer would be huge. Lambert has been to UGA a few times, they recruited him out of high school.

yep 100% correct.. gaillard is visiting on the 20th with his mom.. he won't commit til his mom sees the campus and meets the coaches, but as you said we lead for him. UGA is trending with Shaw, but it's not close to being over for him. It helps we have 3 of his biggest friends committed and you know how important he is to our recruiting class that right after Baker committed Coach Wilson was on the phone with Shaw. Lambert was very impressed and mentioned it many times how much he appreciates UGA recruiting him (even having him visit right before nsd) when other teams ignored him knowing full well he wasn't going to qualify. It will be interesting to see how Coach Wilson handles our numbers.

When did Lambert announce that UGA leads? His last communication suggested UT and UF were in the lead for his recruitment.

You would think with our Depth issues that 3 or 4 would be lined up or committed.. A real head scratcher- No Homo

Lambert is a Vol, IMO. He is close to a lot of current players & commits. He will be here.

What changed for you?

Seems like there has been a lot of chatter after his UGA visit. Especially after he said that us and Florida are tied for the lead, it might just be me though. If all else fails I like to think we may not get certain people that way if we get him then I'm surprised if we don't I'm not disappointed :)

UF and UT are even

UGA prob trails those two.

He seems like a much better fit for the 4-3 so I think that's probably what put us and FL ahead of UGA. He's one of a few guys who I feel really good about landing (along with Mouhon and Gaulden).

Said every home team fan, ever.

Just compare their depth chart on the D-line to ours and it really is a no brainer. Even Florida fans would admit that he has a much better chance of starting day 1 at Tennessee. And you've got to think that strongly helps our chances since he's a Juco with 2 years of eligibility left.

Even when you take off the orange tinted glasses you can see his best shot at starting day 1 is at UT. That's what you should look for as a JUCO. You just hope the recruits think the same. I think that's what the poster was saying.

Whoops, I didn't see this before I made my last post which pretty much said the same thing.

If all recruits thought like this CP would have been a dawg last year
