Da Reds thread

Someone had better tell your manager that he will need his pen in August if you want it to matter.

Probably right, but right now with Wandy and Burnett out injured I'll take wins anyway we can get them. Plus other than Wilson, Melancon, and Grilli we could see quite a big change in the bullpen composition. Morton will likely move to the pen when all our starters are back, we are going to try James McDonald out of the pen, while Gomez saw some spot starts he will move back to the pen, there are 2 bullpen options that the pirates are really high on that are likely to get July/August callups, while Jose Contreras was a disaster the first time he seems to be getting things together the second time around, and our GM has indicated that Taillon as a September callup out of the pen is a real possibility.

Saw that, we could really use another corner outfielder but am not sure I am a fan of any trade that involves Taillon and Polanco. At this point I think I might be a bigger fan of the Rios rumors for that reason.

Alex Rios? He's not bad but be pretty awful recently but that putrid lineup and overall team can't help.

Yeah, Pirates seem determined to get a corner outfielder at the deadline with Alex Rios, Michael Cuddyer (doubtful), and Stanton being the three most commonly brought up names. Rios is struggling right now, but if he can get things headed back in the right direction he is definitely an upgrade over what we have in right field now and we wouldn't have to give up all that much. I've also been very high on Polanco and am quite content with the thought of a Marte, McCutchen, and Polanco outfield probably sometime mid next season.

Could be a quiet trade deadline for you guys. Not sure I can really name a glaring weakness especially with Cingrani coming out of the pen now

We need a RH bat off the bench and more consistency from the left side of our infield.

Other than that we just need to get healthy. i.e. Ludwick, Broxton, and Marshall

Go get Stanton. Idk what all it would entail.

Most say it would take Taillon, Gregory Polanco (Keith law's #22 prospect in all of baseball in his last update), and Tony Sanchez (former 4th overall selection and heir apparent to Russel Martin that just got called up to make his ml debut against the angels). Just seems like a lot to give up to me.

Stanton is the real deal and a true power hitter in the big leagues. I like that much more than unproven prospects but I can understand your hesitancy.

reds better trade and get some hitting or no playoffs this year. time for cingrani to take over for arroyo. maybe trade him for a bat.

Would be really surprised if the reds didn't make the playoffs. These past few games have obviously not been your best stretch, but pretty much everybody but Bruce has gone cold this stretch. Bound to happen during a 162 game stretch, sure things will pick back up.

This.
